Here's my nomination for the C-Thugs Burgee.

Great, Tom.... That logo ought not to upset anyone!!!!

Actually, I just saw a 10 year old girl wearing an outfit covered with PINK SKULLS and CROSSBONES that she got from Old Navy or the like....

Is no symbol sacred anymore????

Mike- They choose "Brats" because they were giving Dale a hard time with their social banter.
Joe.

Nothing to do with "social banter", but it started with someone posting some nice pictures of scenic Alaska- no boat in the pics. That sent Dale, the "web master/grand poobah" of the original "C-Dory Boat Owners Group" over the edge, "this is a boating group, not a scenic picture group." That person was banned from the site. Mike "TyBoo" started a new site (as a joke) for the guy that was banned and called it the C-Brats. He was promptly banned also. The new site took off from there as more and more people enjoyed the more social banter that was allowed here. Dale got mad and pulled the plug on the first group. Ken started a new (again) group, the "C-Dory Owners Group". Both were fine groups with a great membership. Too bad they were both operated as if they were the ego extension of the web master.

Now you know the rest of the story.

Sheesh

1) Plagarize the old burgee

2) Change the background color, change the edge trim color, change the C-Dory color, add a radome and you have a totally different yet perfectly acceptable alternative.

Very few 22 ft. boats have radar. C-Dorys have a high percentage with radar, in keeping with the "Pocket Cruiser" reputation.

3) I'd switch

Don

Me too. Slap a big radome atop that boat and it's a shape everyone instantly recognizes. I met 2 C-Dories on the last trip and you just know from a distance what is coming by that radome sitting atop the little boat.

For what it's worth (actually, about $40), Karen just pulled 2 new-in-box original burgees, left over from the last production run, with the improved, tougher fabric.

First two folks who e-mail with their snail-mail addresses get 'em, no charge.

Water situation here remains bleak, so I don't see another C-Dory in the foreseeable future.

E-mail me kgmccullough@comcast.net

This is almost as stupid as some of our southern states being forced to change their flag because it has the southern cross of the Confederacy on it. It is their history, their flag.

Just the opinion of this redneck :beer

Fishtales,

Thanks for the heads up on the past. So, you are saying that some ppl felt they had the right to coerce other people into accepting their limited definition of what was acceptable to C-Dory owner's groups?

Hmmmmm...... maybe raising heck over some new owners wanting a burgee with a picture of a C-Dory on it is a similar thing?

John

I'm getting price quotes on both the old and new designs from Burgees.com (requested the old one yesterday, early).

Maybe the cost will give us some more guidance on which one or both to order!

Joe.

John, you're exactly right about one group infringing on the rights of another! It's one of the constant themes in all of human history, right or wrong! (And I'm sure you know that already, my friend!) Still doesn't make it any easier to swallow when your the infringed on part, though.

Both burgees are now spoken for. Phil, your e-mail was received at 10:27:55, and Brandon, yours at 10:33:28.

John, you were about 5 minutes too late.

They'll go in the mail this week.

Ken

I like this family. Increase my order from one to two of what ever design is 'approved". No matter how much the kids complain, don't cut the turkey until I'm home.

Joe – thank you for being a diplomat and gentleman about this whole thing.

I am not one of the old timers but did know some of the history of the old C-Dogs and the C-Brats. I think for our use it is probably best to design our own and there has been some good discussion on this. It will not hurt to let this continue for another week, to give those members that have been playing on their boats, or working to give their input. It should be a burgee that everyone would be proud to fly.

The C-Brats have a logo and Mark S. used it in his design. I think getting rid of the boat wake and using a blue background with red and white border would help. The C-Brats logo looks generic enough that it could even be a little Tug.

Dave,

Thanks for your hard work on that prototype, but I don't care for the smallish, quarter view drawing of the C-Dory from the C-Brats' heading. It looks like a 16, or cartoon version. The full side view is more reminiscent of the new TomCats and other sizes.

Just my thoughts,

John

Dave-

Thanks, and your Burgee looks GREAT! A real contender, fer sure!

On the other hand, I still like the one with

"Brats, Rats, Thugs, and Tugs"

almost as much!

Joe.

John-

I know it won't satsisfy you intellectually in terms of the principle of the deal, but I'll gradly forward this brand new traditional burgee on my desk to you if you find the final choice still objectionable. I can live with the new one whatever it is.

Joe.

Intellectual satisfaction? Wow... Joe, you must have usp.... ups.... eps... spe.... whatever....

Acutally, I just need to be quiet... but I really like the existing burgee!

John

OK, if we use the word brat could it not be confused with the sausage meat of the same spelling? Therefore I suggest that any burgee containing the word "BRAT" have a little - over the "a" identifing it as a long a not a short a. Please disregard Gerries name on the signature line, she wants none of this.

Wow. what a tempest in a teapot we've stirred up here.

For those of you worried about the obverse side of the burgee, I belong to the Anacortes Yacht Club, and their burgee has a big A on it but the A is only visible from one side. So I suspect that many if not most burgees are single-sided. That's OK with me.

As for the other designs that have been proposed, some of them have too much detail and will not be recognized at a distance. So I vote for the C-Brats (no .com) or a silhouette of a generic C-dory boat.

Gerrie told me people would take me seriously and I didn't believe her. What a stupid Boy I am!
