C-Dory Burgee Order!

Fairbro, from the last page.....

What about just putting the sillhouette of a BBQ grill and go with C-Brats???

John
Well, if you go with a grill silhouette the most identifiable is probably the "Weber." It also would be a good choice because it is usually black but can also come in a few colors of which I am sure dark geen is an option. The only real problem I see with this is it re-opens that old gas versus charcoal can of worms. P.S. I thought sihlouette had two l's too.

If we're still on, I am still good for 2 of these:

and if not, I'll simply contact the company and get them myself.

Thanks Joe -- you have gone over and above the call of duty on this, for sure.

(is anyone working on C-Dory footwear?)

Matt-

Thanks for the comments and (re)order.

As this thing goes on, I am occasionally hit with the idea of just going with both the old and new designs to please both factions, kind of like partitioning a country to appease the factions.

Footwear? Socks? Perhaps down the road a few months!

But we did get one request for a STRING BIKINI MADE UP OF THREE BURGEES by Gary of Fairbro!

Now this does present some interesting opportunities, of course, with the most speakable and noteable being that by using two or three different burgee designs in the suit, it would become a political bridge across the great divide between the Old Guard, the New United Front, and the Zzzzzzzzzzz!!! groups.

Perhaps someone with Photoshop skills can find a suitably well endowed young lady and do us proud?

Thanks for asking!

Joe.

Joe,

In order to properly satisfy all factions in this logo thing, someone is just going to have to step up to the plate and have some appropriately equipped models display the various designs on the bikini burgees ... or burgee bikinis...

of course it might be tough for us to get the admirals, or models, to ride on the bowrail all the time we want to fly the bikini burgee design...

John

As a veteran of the Seabees (MCB-7), I have no objection to the use of the letters 'C' and 'B'. How about using the old sillouette, with a 'C' at one end and 'B' at the other. This would be on a swallow-tail pennant. Jus sayin.....

Oldgrowth, just kidding about the color match (I do like the colorfulness of it) but here is a serious suggestion. Take Sneaks "C-B" from his "C-Brats" on page 5 of this thread and use it instead of your "C B" ; this would parallel C-Dory's style (are we excluding C-Rangers here? No, they are still C-Brats) and I like the larger "C" enveloping the "B" and its form follows the burgee form (tapering to the stern). Can't work the graphics or I would show you. For further simplification you could drop the anchor and life ring; this would be getting closer to a logo recognizable from a distance.

OK but for my taste, as a ham radio operator, looks a little too much like

Citizens Band Ugh. :crook

Remember the saying, you can please some of the people all of the time, all of the people some of the time but you cannot please all of the people all of the time

Just pick a design, or designs, take orders if you're going to and get on with it!!

Charlie, I think you're right.

So now we decide.

Been thinking about how to get a vote going on these choices that is meaningful and related to who will buy what, not just a free for all frenzy. Keep in mind the minimum order is 25 burgees of any particular type, plus a set up charge for any new design.

So here's how we're going to do it:

1. I'm going to present the five viable designs we have so far, labeled A-E.

2. Those who are willing to buy a burgee get to decide what they get, not the entire known universe and beyond.

3. If you're willing to buy a burgee, PM me with which ones (by letter) you will accept and how many you want if more than one.

4. I'll total up the potential orders and see which ones have enough interest to meet the minimum order of 25.

5. We'll order one, two, or more designs based on who wants what. You'll only get the one or two you ordered, but the design choice(s) between the alternatives will be made by the total pattern of votes. The ones with the most votes and meeting the minimum order of 25 will get produced. If you only wanted 1 of "A" and we don't have enough interest to produce it, you'll be under no obligation.

I don't have price quotations on these yet, but keep in mind that our anticipated cost was about $15-$20 per burgee, and the cost for some of the more complex ones with boats with detail may be considerably more expensive.

This has been a lot of fun, and everybody has been a good sport about it too, which makes it a lot less effort and stressful.

***************************************************************************

BURGEE CHOICES: FOLLOW THE PROCEDURES OUTLINED ABOVE AND "PM" ME WITH WHICH ONE(S) YOU WOULD ACCEPT AND IF YOU WANT MORE THAN ONE.

MONEY TALKS!!!

A. THE OLD STANDBY:

B. "C-BRATS"

E. "CB" logo.

How about oldgrowth's original "CB" with the anchor? I think it should be a contender. He did his last one ( choice E) at my request but I do like it better.

C-Gree-

Let me know in a PM that it's the one you prefer, and I'll add it to the totals.

I dropped it because it was pointed out (and I believe) that it's too complicated and therefore expensive to produce reasonably.

Thanks,

Joe.

Cheers-

Thanks for your comment.

I understand your point, no one wants to get left out of the voting/decision making, but I'm thinking the system I devised gets us a lot quicker to making a decision and taking orders that is real based on who will buy what, not what a casual poll will show.

Why let everybody who's not going to purchase one decide for those who are?

All I've done here is open up the marketplace to let people decide with their willingness to actually purchase the product.

We've got a number of excellent designs to choose from, and those who want one should get what they want, not what is imposed by some vociferous minority or a mixed interested/disinterested majority that isn't going to fly the new burgee(s) anyway.

We also have minimum order quotas to meet, and the vote best directly links the demand for the product with the minimum order required.

We're not choosing a permanent group logo here, just offering a selection of burgee designs to meet individual folks tastes.

I know a lot of folks would like to have their say in this, and 9 pages later a lot have.

Like Charlie, many are getting weary and want to get this done and behind us, not drag it out into a continuing circus.

What do the others think?

Joe.

Not without adding my choice. Too bad I don't have the talent to do it up nice.

Add a radome, use the same silhouette as in the above, but white out all the details except the big dark trim strip below the gunnel. Use the same "different" background color/edge trim.

Keeps it simple, closer to the original but different enough to satisfy the most discerning Brat.
