 New to the board. Nice to be here. I am getting ready to plunk a deposit down on a 16 foot angler. I would like to talk to someone by phone who is a good resource before I make the plunge. If you private email me directly maybe we could exchange phone numbers and I can call you or vise versa. I live in Sequim and I am looking forward to the event at Sequim Bay on the 30th. Thanks for your reply. Carl

You might try calling Dr Phil or some other shrink.....these boats have turned us into a bunch of unproductive, internet addicted, boat hippies....are you sure you want to go down that road?

You might search for "16 Angler or Cruiser". there was a good discussion about differences between those two just last week. Also, go to "photos" and search for 16, or Pee Wee, or go to Brat Map and click on the balloons for 16's to find the names of photo albums

Speak for your self. I'm no hippy!!

I don't know... I bought this boat and the next thing I knew I was gainfully unemployed... been thinking about letting my hair grow out and losing my razor.

Peace, love, age of Aquarious,
Jim B.

Dtol- I use the term boat hippie to reflect somebody that wants to, or, has somewhat dropped out of society and just boats around.
Myself, I've always been mixed up on labeling stuff, back when I was a young idiot I used to go to bull ridings driving a VW camper bus with tie died curtains.

You will have quite a resouce at the Sequim gathering--beside there are several C Dory owners who live in Sequim. I boated out of there for a few summers, including with my C Dory 22, and considering the condition, I probably would go with a 19 or 22 angler used, rather than a new 16.

Welcome. As you can see we're a pretty staid and serious bunch. However, an occasional nugget surfaces. Pat Anderson asked if you wanted info on 16's specifically or on C-Dorys in general. Once you answer that people will have an easier time responding.

Whichever you get, angler or cruiser, you're bound to enjoy it.

The coolest thing about the 16 Angler and Cruiser is that you CAN tow it with a VW camper! For all of you Eurovan enthusiasts out there you can tow up to a 22 Cruiser as long as you use common sense.

Best wishes, Randy Sheehy.

HEY CARL,
I'VE CHECKED OUT THE 16' CD, IT'S A GREAT LITTLE VESSEL. I SAW A USED 16 CRUISER, AT A FORT MYERS DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD THE OWNER FLOATED ACROSS OKEECHOBEE, OUT ST. LUCIE AND INTO THE ATLANTIC, ALL THE WAY UP TO CHESAPEAKE. NOW THAT'S GUTSY!
MY RECOLLECTION TELLS ME THIS BOAT HAD A SINGLE AND A SMALL KICKER. FULL CAMPER TOP AND WAS ASKING ABOUT $21,000, FOR BOAT, ENGINE AND TRAILER. MAYBE AN 2004 MODEL.
NOT SURE IF YOU'RE LOOKING AT A NEW OR USED ONE. IF, NEW, I'D RECOMMEND CHECKING OUT A USED 19 OR 22'. FOR SLIGHTLY MORE MONEY YOU COULD END UP WITH SUBSTANTIALLY MORE BOAT. I WOULDN'T WORRY TO MUCH ABOUT AGE, AS THESE BOATS HAVE A GREAT REPUTATION FOR DURABILITY.
BEST REGARDS AND HAPPY HUNTING.
NOW, GO FORTH AND BE PRODUCTIVE.
IT'S HAPPY HOUR SOMEPLACE!

about becoming a non-productive, internet addicted, boat hippie . . . sounds like a plan to this guy, who grew up (well, sort of) in central California during the sixties. Purchasing a used 16 foot angler . . . very nice boat from what folks have said; my first boat . . . who knows maybe I'll move up to something larger in the future. For now, it seems like the perfect boat. See you all at Sequim Bay and I am looking forward to the addiction.

Hey Coastie (Randy), if you are towing with a Eurovan (I have one!) you must be using a 2 inch receiver hitch, correct? I have only seen 1.25 inch receivers made for the Eurovan. What are you using and where did you get it?

The South Puget Sound Chapter of Unproductive, Internet Addicted, Boat Hippies Anonymous (PSC/ UIABHA) will meet Thursday night at 8:30 pm in the Employee's Break Room of the Gig Harbor West Marine Store.

We will begin with the usual round of self-admissions and testimonials regarding hardware, horsepower, and other boating equipment fixations, and follow that up with a subsequent discussion of the 12 Steps to a Dry Recovery from Your Nasty Boating Habits.

Following a short break, members will attend a workshop on resisting temptation in boat chandelaries. The entire West Marine store will be available for shopping during this period, with the prices starting at 100% and dropping 1% per minute for 90 minutes.

Those who pass muster and resist the purchasing impulse will be summarily sent home to their wives with a new Macy's Visa Card for the Admiral herself, in order to make sure the Economy doesn't suffer from your cure.

See ya' at the meeting!

Joe.

Joe, Does that mean that I can't go? I mean is PSC/UIABHA a guy thing, or can us Boat Addicted Hippy Chicks (BAHC) belong? Gig Harbor is after all where I spent the best years of my hippy life.

C-Devert, Look forward to meeting you at Sequim.

Robbi CDHC and proud of it! :rainbow

Robbi-

Sure you can belong to our self-help boating group!

Not only is our PSC/UIABHA a coed fraternity/sorority/personity/paternity/maternity/and commu(e)nity, it's a real PITA/eternity, just like the addiction!

As clan leaderess of the Boat Addicted Hippy Chicks (BAHC), we'll expect great diversions of productive time into pointed endless questioning of society's values, and especially the WAR in Iraq. Good timing, girl! Time to START THINKING AGAIN!

Maybe you could start up a craft guild / cottage industry group to make artsy peace buttons, and we could have a clan get-together with the Rainbow family and get the DEAD to play? Still got your Psychedelic Bus? Hope you didn't sell it on ebay when the prices got so high!

Peace,

Joe.

boy this thread sure went to pot, I'm sorry about participating in it's derailment.

Does any body know how to do macrame, I want to make one of those hanging bead kind of doors for the V-berth....what time is the meeting and where? I forgot already will there be munchies.

note- I have never used any illegal substances and I tell students that if they can not refrain from using, they should not waste their time coming to class as potential employers will not hire them, other than that, what a person does in their spare time is thier business

When I was in college at Stanford in the late 60's, many of us might have looked like Hippies (dropouts), but we worked very hard and we took our education seriously. In order to distinguish ourselves from the Hippies, we adopted the vernacular used by the Grateful Dead and called ourselves Freaks. In fact, we were some of the original Dead Freaks, a term which preceded the Dead Heads. I never totally abandoned the term Dead Head, however, and I am considering a variation of it as a name for my future boat: Dead Ahead.

Bill-

Still got that four-wheel drive off road hippie van in disguise?

Moving to Wasington may be a mistake. Lotsa ex-hip and metro types have escaped up there to the likes of Seattle, but there's still a stern undercurrent of conservative law-abiding folks that expect everyday conformism.

Actually, you'll fit right in, as long as you don't get side-tracked too far by the outlaw guy, Jon.

Joe.
