Bunk board scuffing bottom gel coat

Hello - I have noticed that my bunk boards on my trailer are scuffing up the bottom of my hull. I am pretty sure it's from where I normally launch which is by a tractor. Guessing they are not dunking the trailer deep enough for when I drive the boat on. Took it to a gelcoat repair person and told me it is just surface scuffs/scratch and not through the gelcoat. If repaired it would be very pricey and probably next time at same launch it would happen again. Has this happened to any of you and have you come up with a solution to prevent this from happening. Not really wanting to change to rollers and not even sure if that would help. read about those plastic covers for the bunk boards but not sure if that would help. Or should I just deal with it. Any advice is much appreciated.

Teflon "slicks" may help, but there will still be some small scratches. Liquid rollers is the same as any spray on silicone dry spray--and will make the boat slide on easier.

Check the carpet on the bunks, to be sure that there is not a lot of sand in the fabric--and that the nap is still good.

I noticed the blue bottom color on my plastic bunks. I always thought it was from the boat sliding a little from side to side. My tie down strap positions I think allow some slip due to some stretch in the webbing. I like to think that my reconfigured side guides help keep the boat in place when trailering but I still have the blue on my bunks. Not sure if it's leftover blue or new blue.I was thinking of going to carpeted bunks to get away from the hard plastic on gel coat bottom. Vern

On my new trailer the back of the bunks were set too low. When retrieving the boat the bottom would sometimes scrape on the metal light surrounds. Really ughlied up the shiny blue bottom by the time I noticed it !
