An inspiration? Just 6 years ago, we had good-paying careers and plenty of time off. We worked hard, and got to spend 4 months sailing and playing where it was warm when the snow flew up north. Then, I started checking into this C-Dory thing. Now, we wander around a lot... able to find only occasional seasonal work driving a cruise boat and in a marina in a spectacular setting. In another month, we will be unemployed again. Then what? Forced to wander around by boat or RV... having to go where the weather suits our clothes... just the two of us and a snuggly cat. A "fixed base" that we visit a couple months a year. What kind of a lifestyle is this? Happiness without the schedule of "50 on, 2 off"? Being forced to make decisions like "where do you want to go next?" or "should we revisit a place we enjoy or find someplace we haven't seen, yet?"
can you imagine having to give up running a snow blower in the winter and mowing grass all summer; staining the cedar siding on a big house? When we aren't in our very small house in the Tropical Tip, we have to live in the square footage of a 25' boat or a 35' RV with expanding walls. As you can imagine, our families are concerned for our welfare. No permanent land-based phone line. Our only TV reception has to come through a satellite, our internet from a cell tower... that's right - no cable TV, no DSL. We're lucky if we get mail once a month... and then it has to find us. No catalogs or junk mail?? It's been months since we were in a mall.
Thanks for the encouragement, Bill and El.
Best wishes,
Jim & Joan
