Then buying a used salt water boat and replacing the engine would be more cost effective than buying a new boat with a new engine. However, it's not my money, so whatever....
One 25 owner didn't do a sea trial or mechanic survey, on a boat kept on a lift and apparently not flushed. On is first use of the boat, it overheated, and the mechanic found extensive corrosion and occlusion of passages. New motor was $15,000. He had paid "full price" for the boat....No discount for the bad motor....Yes it was less expensive than a new boat--but the boat had some issues also. I didn't think it was a "good buy".
