We've been happily reading the Forum and feel the time has come to join in. Pat and I acquired our 2003 22ft. Cruiser last August. We're not the same Pat and I living in Rochester, NY.
After 65 years of sailing and closing in on 80 it seemed time to try our hand as power boaters. We still have a 19ft. Cape Dory Typhoon for day sailing.
Meri Aura (Finnish for Sea Plow) had three trial runs on Lake Superior prior to winterizing. We're into our second snowfall of the season. We are located on Keweenaw Bay which offers great cruising around the Keweenaw Peninsula and a jumping off point for Isle Royale and Apostle Island adventures. We're 10 minutes from the launch ramp and can provide parking for at least 15 trucks and trailers.
There will be many questions from us in the Spring when we return from a winter break in Panama City Beach, FL and prepare Meri Aura for her first cruise. Tentative plans include the Erie Canal, Lake Champlain, St. Lawrence Seaway, Ottawa River, Rideau Canal, Lake Ontario and back to our starting point near Buffalo, NY. If all goes as planned the trip will take place from mid-May through the end of June. Lake Superior will then provide our cruising grounds and we hope many of you will join us "up north"
