We're new to C-brats and have had our classic '84 CD22 for only a short time. And, we love it. It's a great boat. But, I recently was offered the opportunity to semi-retire, and I'll only be working six months a year. That means more time to boat and with our ability to tap into a bit of retirement funds...well, a bigger boat was in order. We originally thought that a CD25 or a TC255 would be the way to go -- of course staying within the C-dory family. After looking at the TC255s available, it became clear that these boats were beyond our retirement funds, and a used CD25 would be a stretch. We kept looking and one day on boattrader we saw an ad from Wefing's Marine for a TC24 with a recently reduced price well within our range. We called Marc at Wefings and after a couple of conversations, we agreed that the Tomcat was the boat for us. Next, we called Cory of Sharp Yacht Transport and found that he was scheduled to deliver a Ranger Tug to Wefing's and he gave us a good deal on shipping our CD22 to Marc, who will sell it, and returning with the Tomcat. It all came together nicely Cory has picked up our CD22 and should be back with our new (to us) Tomcat. First, he has to deliver a boat to New Jersey and return -- the man is a driving demon. The result is that we should have the Tomcat just in time for Christmas! Better than one of those commercials where a Lexus is wrapped in a ribbon. I prefer a C-dory.
The boat has all that we need. We understand that some folks take issue with the head, but we are short people and still reasonably nimble. Others worry about the solar effect with the slanted windows, but we live in Bellingham (remember last July 4th?). And, we are in the group of folks who like the looks of the TC24. The boat is also outfitted nicely with twin Yamaha 115s, radar, wallas, and so on. We will be keeping the boat at Squalicum Harbor (close to R-Matey) so the the trailer issue will not be too much of a concern.
Before buying the boat, we searched the C-brats site for information on the TC24. We also had great reports about Marc at Wefing's and Cory. We are very comfortable with our purchase because of C-brats. We would not have made the purchase from so far away without all the comments on this site. Best of all, we are happy to be part of the C-brat family.
Happy Holidays!
