29 venture on Craigslist

29' C Dory's never did sell well. Many have sold at considerably lower prices. There was a post by the Naval architect who designed the hull, about the tunnel, and how it should have been built, to make the boat run better.

Yeah, that's pretty juvenile and imprudent to start talking about his guns in a FS ad.
The other silly thing is the pictures they took. Those pictures of the truck and the boat look ridiculous. They should've taken an extra 20 minutes and taken some decent ones. There's way too much mess and clutter. I particularly like the picture of the dirty back seat of the truck and the one that shows the dirty dishes in the galley sink. :)

That guy is in for a rude awakening on his asking price. He better be willing to knock off about 20 or 30 grand AT LEAST.

There was basically a brand new one in Anchorage on the list for around 80,000 a year or so ago. I'm pretty sure it has gone through a couple of owners for whatever the reason. It was a nice clean looking boat. $160,000 is a lot of money for a pickup and a boat - even up here.

Pictures could use some sprucing up, but there is some class there.... a Seahawks wash bucket

His Craig's list ad reflects either a semi-humorist bent with a paranoid leaning, or a confirmation that he seriously flunked both his marketing and public relations classes.

I hope that if I had to sell my toys in the hopes of funding retirement and had a bunch of guns, somebody would hide the guns from me. $160,000 aint going to fund much

Mighty Mite- "semi humorous bent with a twist of paranoia" ? how just plain bent?

Well what ever he gets it will be more than he had. Plus the boat will stop sucking any more dolleros from his wallet. Maybe the truck is really noyce. (sic) Those 29's seem to be harder to get rid of than some S.T.D's

D.D.

why and the hell would you want to get rid of S.T.D.s? I use S.T.D.s all the time in the summer. Damn sea lions make fishing impossible and you have to scare them off so I deploy my S.T.D (Sealion Thumping Device) a 10oz lead on a casting rod...it's fun and accurate..some folks get an odd look when I tell the deckhand to deploy STDs .

That boat comes with $20k in fishing gear, it probably has STDs. With the truck and the fishing gear, it probably isn't a bad price if it was what a person was looking for

Well, the ad did say you could have the truck, boat, fishing gear, and "whatever else you would want thrown in."

Penicillin?

That was funny, Dave.

I think I recall a rule here that you can't link your "for sale" post to something on Craigslist or similar... but this isn't a forum participant's boat, and it has been an entertaining thread.

I'm not a fishing guy, but maybe B~C Ken can tell us what $20k worth of used fishing gear is worth? I can get a value for a 2013 from NADA. Not enough of the CD-29s out there to establish a used "value." (More like buying a one-of-a-kind... well, maybe a half dozen of a kind.) If there was a lot of demand for the 29, the factory would have made a bunch of 'em.

Based on the fact that the ad said this boat was used for fishing at Neah Bay two weeks each year and given that I've only seen one CD-29 out there, I'm certain I've seen this boat and met the owner. The boat looked well cared for and the owner seemed like a decent guy. The boat looks a lot better in the water than on a trailer - it looks a little pudgy on the trailer but no so on the water (as opposed to me - I look pudgier in the water and a little pudgy on shore too).

As for $20k in fishing gear, I can tell you that it's pretty easy to spend that much and it's also easy to spend a lot less. One of my favorite sayings is "When I die, I fear that my wife will sell my fishing gear for what I told her I paid for it".

I am trying to figure out how the boat got 1300 engine hours in just a couple of two week fishing trips... that's a ton of hours for such a new boat...
musta left er running for a couple more weeks...

I thought about that too, could they be idling hours?
even if one is out for 12 hours and running the main for trolling 14 days x 12 hours = 168. That would be ~6 years. Given that the boat has a kicker, I don't know why one would have it idling. So I'd guess there was some use outside of 2 weeks/year at Neah Bay.
