Marc: You are working too hard again on this.
Do not worry about factory support from any of the factories. They supported us by building the boats we buy. Without that...we would not have all these friends that love boats.
These Gatherings are for us boat owners to put together and allow us to socialize and enjoy local waters with someone local to help with the waters. You and John have provided much more than that already and I appreciate that as one who is traveling in from afar to get together with friends again this year.
What makes gatherings fun no matter if they are at a marina, someone's home, up a river, down a creek, on a lake, and/or the ones we do not even bring out boats..... is the people and fellow C-Brats. These are not really sponsored by the factory or the dealers. We just got lucky that you stepped up to the plate this year and did organize this for us. I appreciate that. Too far from me to do it now that I have moved up to TN.
We all have to eat somewhere. With John letting us use his house again as "the gathering marina", I feel sure we will all be glad to toss into the hat to cover the food cost and a bit of coffee under the covered patio in the mornings. (YES...UNDER THE patio...JUST CAUSE SOME OF US ARE UP AT 5AM...WHEN ALL OR BOATS ARE SO CLOSE TOGETHER...IT WORKS BEST FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO SLEEP A BIT PAST DAY BREAK FOR US EARLY RISERS TO GATHER UP THERE AND CHATTER... :thup :smiled )
We can all bring our own coolers and refreshments. We do at all the others unless their is a local who contributes some local products...which is always enjoyed.
Other gatherings we just merge onto/into a restaurant at or around the marina. Now having folks traveling in from afar...makes it a bit difficult to bring food. Attempting to organize us as a group would make herding cats like brushing your teeth... as would attempting to sort thru who is bringing what...
None of us like to work a whole lot at these things and you and John have done enough by providing the basic food goods, already cooked some of it prior to our arrivals, and making the place available saving all of us dock fees.
If the Chamber provides the tables and chairs, just put them over in the corner, or leave them on a truck....and when it is time to use them, those of us eating off of them can set up the chairs/tables. Throw away plates, forks, cups are great...if folks want hardware that needs to be washed....we can bring our own off our boats, go back to our boats and wash them. Let the group be self supporting. When we are done with the last meal, have a truck or two on the ready to load everything on Sunday morning, if folks are going to start pulling out after breakfast. Just have thrash bags on the ready, and some spray cleaners as to allow us C-Brats to return borrowed goods in good clean shape. It will not take 15 minutes for us all to clean up after breakfast Sunday morning, with all of us just pitching in a little bit. You and John and your families/staff should not have to bear this work. We understand this ain't no Holiday Inn...it is John's home, and much nicer, and we appreciate his allowing us to use it.
You have done more than your share as "host" of this gathering.
But...your work is not over yet. Where is the best place in town to fuel our boats prior to launching as far as price, clean fuel, and easy access?
I can not believe I have been in my new home location for over a year. This being said...I will be spending the days prior to the gathering getting things corrected around here "under warrantee" prior to coming down. I will be down sometime Friday in the Eastpoint area, but hopefully, some of us can cruise west a bit after Sunday for a day or two..and work some type of tow vehicle shuffle???
How about it other locals on the westbound cruise shuffle options/locations??
Looking forward to seeing my C-Brat friends and new friends soon.
