    CA Boating changing forever?

Camanche and Pardee have been closed since winter. Sly Park, Folsom, and Clementine are temporarily closed. No word on the Sierra lakes yet, but I expect this to spread. 3/5 of these closures so far are by municipal water agencies, that control the water rights.

    CA Boating changing forever?

Lakes around here have started closing down due to another invasive mussel recently found in the CA Delta. Some lakes are adopting an inspection and then 30 day wait period before allowing launching. With each different lake that you want to go to, the process starts over. Wow. This is...

    New Owner - 16' Angler

Great to hear from some new 16 Angler enthusiasts! I took my aunt fishing last weekend, my first time out all summer. And I guess summers actually over. Man I’ve got to get my priorities straight! But I love my little boat. One of the funnest parts is all the compliments it brings. :D

    Used 16 Angler

I had it custom made. The cost was actually very reasonable. And it’s been a total game changer for longer days on the water. Highly recommended.

    Used 16 Angler

For what it’s worth, I have had only a couple days where I’ve actually burned through a whole 6 gallon tank. 2 - 12 gallon tanks is gonna slow your 16 down a lot. # of passengers and amount of load makes a big difference in these little boats. 2 - 6 gallon tanks gives me plenty of fuel...

    Used 16 Angler

Congratulations! I’ve had my 16 Angler, “Rosebud” for 12 years now and love it! I mostly fish Sierra lakes with it, but have had it in the ocean too. I’m of course always cautious with weather, but have always felt safe in my 16, even in 4’ waves on Tahoe. Enjoy!

Handling odditties - what are your strategies?

I have a 2005 Honda 4 stroke 50 hp, that runs real good. I can’t remember the specs on my prop off hand, but I had the pitch reduced because I boat at higher elevation a lot. I get a little over 5k rpm at WOT when I’m at moderate elevation, which should indicate a good prop pitch according to...

Handling odditties - what are your strategies?

And here I wish my 16 would go faster. With 2 people and an ice chest I’m lucky to get 20 mph, and it never feels sqirrely.

    2023 Summer Salmon Puget Sound

Zero salmon fishing down here in CA this year. Zilch, nada, nein, forget about it. I guess every generation before me also thought the world was falling apart by the time they got old?

Help! Fine lines in gelcoat on 2004 16 that I might buy

“I like epoxy in boat repairs. But if you use it in an area exposed to sun, it is a good idea to either gelcoat over or paint over to give UV protection.” Thank you for the valuable information :thup

    Lake Tahoe

Lake Forest and Sand Harbor are both good ramps. Sand Harbor is way better protected during windy afternoons. I believe Vista is closed, but there’s a shallow ramp in King’s Beach, which should be fine because the lake is full. Again, if the forecast is for afternoon wind (almost always), I...

Help! Fine lines in gelcoat on 2004 16 that I might buy

My 16 has cracks in the gelcoat in the same location. Like you suspected, it’s at the mold joint. No big deal. I sealed mine up with a little epoxy.

Thanks so much for sharing your adventures! Wish I was there, but I’ll need a bigger CD! Maybe someday!

Down-rigger response time and longer boats.

Lots of good advice. When fishing alone I also sometimes throttle up a little when a fish hits, until I can see it’s a solid hookup. I’d like to tell people that I have a tiny boat because I land more fish than folks in larger boats, but I’m really jonezing for a 22 angler too

    C-Dory 16 Angler Purchase Advice

We have our 16 Angler in a slip at a local lake for the summer. It’s been great taking evening cruises with some takeout. Cool off and wash away the stress of the day. We use the Pico chairs we learned about on this site  Check out our pics

    Question for CD-16s with kicker

That’s the ticket, but do you have a bow rail, and how did you mount the minn-kota? Sorry, just looked at your photos… you can just drop and tilt that then?
