My 23 with 115 Yamaha has Permatrim. Brings the nose down quicker and holds it down as you slow. Improves forward vision. Had Permatrim on my 19 too. It is arguably the best thing you can do for a C-Dory. Never valued trim tabs. Just one mans opinion.

That sucks. It is a gut shot, even if all is covered and replaced. From my limited knowledge it looks like way too much work for the "average" tweaker.

I haven't seen it mentioned.. but if you bottom paint and trailer a lot (vs leave in a marina) loading is stickier and your paint will rub off on the roller/bunks. Still seems better to paint in the NW.

I have the Merc version (optimax) 2 stroke on my "not the Dory". Good weight to power and seems reliable, although it does not like trolling. In many areas there is little to no resale value on a two stroke, so that is something to think of too.

Cabelas sells an aluminum C shaped spring that will raise the seat about 2 inches. Uses all the original holes and is easy. Made all the difference in the world on both my 19 and 23 for forward visibility. It does reduce the space between the bottom of the wheel and your legs. I don't have...

Consider plastic or fiberglass tanks as replacement. Even with flow meters/gages/engine consumption tracking/NMEA2000 stuff, there is no better comfort than being able to eyeball your fuel level. Aluminum doesn't offer that. Enjoy the boat. Rob
