V berth access hatches added to 25

Oh no! You cut holes in my baby!!! :D Nice job! You now have easy access to those dark recesses where many things went, never to be seen again.

It finally happened to me..FOG AT NIGHT

One cheap solution to the intercom is using apps on your phones. With the right setup, it does not require any cell service or internet connection. I have wifi on my boat (no internet). Connect both phones to the boat wifi and then use an app such as this...

    10/15 - 10/29 - 2017 Snake/Columbia River C-Dory Cruise

There certainly are many spots that are no wake on the Multnomah Channel. If I had to guess I'd say about a 1/3 of it just due to the docks/marinas/homes/etc. If it were me, I'd blast through some of the boring stretches of the Columbia (Ex. the ~18NM from Camas/Washougal to Kelley Point) in...

    10/15 - 10/29 - 2017 Snake/Columbia River C-Dory Cruise

Harvey is absolutely correct on both accounts. The locks at Willamette Falls have not been operational in quite some time so that's as far as you can go. Beacon Rock is fantastic and has a very nice dock. I don't know if the group considered it or not, but they should consider going down the...

My boat is sold (South of Heaven)

Just curious, but what upgrades are people doing for that chair? Assuming it hasn't changed, it was always a folding directors style chair with some straps to keep it from sliding around. I do believe that Camano is now being produced by another manufacturer, so maybe they are doing something...

My boat is sold (South of Heaven)

Congrats Jason. I know the feeling of seeing your baby pull away from you for the last time. Very bittersweet. Coincidentally, when I sold my CD25 I also had the Camano Trolls on my short list. Nice boats (except for that helm chair :-) ) Good luck with the next phase.

    USCG Documentation Interior Hull Numbering

On my 25 I put the USCG Doc # directly on the sole / hull in the galley cabinetry (on the floor under the sink). I also just did the vinyl stickers covered with a layer of fiberglass/epoxy.

    Long shakedown cruise and video

Very nice boat! And I thought I was a gadget / upgrade guy. I also had the same Bennett trim tab issue on my 2008 25'. I had to replace the position sensor / sender. It's basically the cap at the top of the cylinder that attaches to the stern. The hardest part of replacement is getting the...

    Thru Hull Exhaust Fitting

When I added the Webasto to my CD25, the exhaust exited through the hull right below the rub rail. It was just solid fiberglass, no core. The install kit for the Webasto included a high temp sealant (Permatex Ultra Copper I believe) that went between the hull and the fiber gaskets.

    I'm relieved ! (Winter project)

These are exactly the same areas where I had rot in my 2008 25 (which I've since sold). The rot around the inspection port in the sole was pretty extensive. A boatyard replaced all of the core in the sole and it felt like a new boat. I never realized how much the old sole was flexing when...

    Deals

There really is no rule of thumb any more with inflatable PFDs. The only way to really know is read the USCG label on the PFD. I have older auto-inflatable PFDs that state it must be worn to be counted. My newer ones do not have that requirement. Unfortunately many USCG boarding officers...

Astoria to the San Juans? Best month for soft ocean?

I'm gathering similar information for a trip in the next year or two. This thread over on Trawler Forum has a lot of good info. ASD and the Inside Passage It follows a boat from the Columbia River up to Alaska and back. It's quite a long thread but very interesting. You'll get an idea of...

    Removing my cockpit sole

Welcome to a potential can of worms. With my 2008 25 Cruiser, my removable sole definitely was getting spongier over the years I owned it around that access port in the center (right over the fuel pickup/sender). The factory never properly sealed the wood core of the of the sole when...

New to us, but part of C-Brats

Enjoy the boat Doug! It was a sad day to see her go, but I'm glad she's now back in the PNW.
