09/15 - Lake Powell September Cruise

Harvey, During the week I was cruising with the group, the water temps were consistently 76-77 degrees, sometimes a little warmer in the shallow bays. Air temps were about 90 daytime with lows about mid 60's overnight. Humidity was very low-10-12% which made the temps very comfortable.

    Sticky Cabin Door

Steve, I have the same experience with my 2002. It has a Starboard door and a molded fiberglass opening. The plastic expands greatly in hot weather and the door sticks and is hard to close. As soon as it cools off it works fine. The actual part that sticks is the metal lockset. On my boat...

09/15 - Lake Powell September Cruise

I want to echo Pat's comments about Lake Powell. This was a great cruise. Thanks Chris for organizing it and thanks Bill for all the geology lessons. I also want to thank Rockytop Roger for treating everyone to views of Jupiter through his telescope, and pointing out the International Space...

09/15 - Lake Powell September Cruise

We pulled the boat at noon today at Wahweap. Did six days of the cruise and had a wonderful time. This was the first cruise my wife had done with me other than a few overnighters. We are already thinking about a repeat next September. We took a ton of pictures but the free WiFi here can't...

    Senior discounts

Well all you guys who have ever lost money at the casinos take heart. I have found a way to WIN BIG at Northern Quest Casino in Spokane. A group of retired firefighters goes every Tuesday to Senior day and with the senior day discount the lunch buffet is a whopping $5.91! I can eat more than...

09/15 - Lake Powell September Cruise

We made it to Wahweap today. We are set up in the RV park and will launch tomorrow morning. Haven't heard anything from Daydream-wondering if Pat made it to Camp Discovery tonight? Everything is a long walk here. Good provisions at the Safeway. There was a wildfire in the Escalante...

09/15 - Lake Powell September Cruise

Pat, Sorry to hear of your maintenance problems. Still hope to see you Monday evening at Wahweap. We are at Torrey, Ut., just outside Capitol Reef NP. We plan on spending today in the park and early tomorrow morning will head for Page. This country is spectacular-every view looks like a...

But Why Do They Call It "The Crab Palace"?

Pat, I would love to know your recipe also. I have never seen fried clams on the half-shell. It really looks good. I just finished smoking salmon to take to Lake Powell for snacks and happy hours.

    Horn

Peter, Quick and easy thing, if you haven't already done it, is to check up under the eyebrow and tug on all the crimped connections under there. I had a problem a few years ago with an intermittent anchor light and finally found a crimp connection under the eyebrow where the factory had used a...

    Shell, tonneau or neither?

Warren, I have always liked canopies. More height for cargo, better security, and as you noted you can camp and sleep in it. I learned that the reduced visibility can be compensated for by use of your mirrors. I have the power adjustable mirrors. I also have those convex mirrors which...

Replacing Anodes (Zincs) on Honda Outboard

Based on some of the information above, I ordered new zincs for my Honda 40's. When I actually took the old ones off, I was amazed at the difference in weight. They didn't look much different in size except for the pitting, but when I weighed them on my kitchen scale, the old one weighed 110...

Jim, has Molly ever even seen a mouse? I could borrow one of my son's cats but I know they have never seen a mouse.

    Barkley Sound fishing 2008

Chromer, Sounds like you had a great trip. I thought the big kings were not as many as years past. We always saw a few big ones come in-but some years you see everyone with big ones. It is still the best day in and day out salmon fishing in the world in my opinion. It is a little more...

Truck campers and towing CD 25

Bob, Although I have a 1 ton dually, I carry a 9'10"" Lance camper and tow my 22 with an extension bar. I installed a Reese Titan Class V hitch with the 2.5" square receiver. This set-up tows very well even with the 24in extension stinger. Many campers sit high enough in the truck to allow...

twin 40's question, maybe a dumb question

Les, I troll with my boat a lot and I find that the speed with one engine is about right at 1400-1700 rpm depending on the wind and tide. The engine is very sensitive in that range and it can be very hard to make small speed changes. I am guessing it might be where the carbs are changing from...

    New Lazarette Covers

Joel, Put me down for 2. Any chance they will be available by Lake Powell? I could collect mine there and avoid any boxing and shipping? Thanks for coordinating this.
