New Lazarette Covers

I HATE my Lazarette covers...... and have been looking for something that does not leak and fill with water every time it rains.....

Now they are available.....The factory installed some that Roger King insisted on .......proper ones.... and I love em....they are slightly larger but fit perfect with a bit of trimming of the existing hole.....

You can see pictures of them on The Hawk discussion....Roger posted pictures..... I contacted the company....and they will sell them to me wholesale if I buy in case lots.....10 to the case...
The retail is $79 each but my price is $35.55 each plus whatever the shipping comes to..... I don't want to make any profit...
I am ordering two cases and will order more if more folks want them...I will re-box and ship a set to anyone who wants em...just let me know...

Joel,
Here's a pic of the cover on my boat- C-Hawk
Picture_015.sized.jpg

You would not believe the fight I had just to get them to install the proper covers. The ones they have been using are NOT rated for horizontal application.

Joel,
Put me down for 2. Any chance they will be available by Lake Powell? I could collect mine there and avoid any boxing and shipping? Thanks for coordinating this.

I just talked to the Rep on the East Coast.....No problems....He loved it when I told him about the crappy hatches that come with the boat....he said the Seattle Rep had been trying to talk C-Dory into using their product for years.... in fact he was going to send him my e-mail...

So far I have had about 7 or 8 folks contact me with requests for the hatches....so I will order enough so I will have a stock here with me....and yes, I will be happy to carry em around with me to C-Dory events....will save on shipping and boxing... easy for me to do...

Happy to do it

Joel: I'll purchase two assuming they'll fit so as to completely cover the existing cutout. I'll confirm that this weekend and PM you. Saltwater sitting in the starboard hatch that leaks whenever I open it has begun to corrode my electrical bus bar and some other electrical connections, and I've only had the boat for a year. Thank you for handling what C-Dory apparently could not. PS any opinions on using the grey model for a boat whose accent color is grey? Mike.

Yes, they list three hatches in that size....white, the off white like Roger has (that match the white gelcoat of our boats) and a grey,....I don't know what shade grey...it just says grey....
I can get the other colors but when I order in smaller quanity than a case the price is higher.....something like $45 each... still beats the heck out of the $79 retail price...
I sure will order the grey ones for you if you like.... no problem... but I can't take em back if they are too dark or to light grey...

Roger told me that the cut-out hole is slightly larger than our existing hole...so it should not be any problem installing them...You can see the pictures of them installed on his new boat.....they look great !

A number of folks have asked about sending money for the hatches....don't worry...I don't... in the morning I am going to order 40 of the off-white hatches....

I will be able to give a closer cost estimate once they arrive...but I can't imagine the shipping of the 4 cases will work out to much.... the basic price will be the $35.55 per hatch plus shipping, plus whatever it costs to get em to you... Parcel Post or UPS which ever is cheeper..

If anyone wants a white set or a grey set...just let me know...they will be roughly $10 more per hatch as I won't get the case price on them...but still a really good deal.

Oh Yes..... If you are a California resident you will need to pay sales tax... Can't forget to pay for all this wonderful government we are getting....

Hi Joel,

I would also like two of the off white lazarette hatch covers. Please let me know where and when I should send the check. Thanks for doing this.

Joel -

The covers on my new boat already bug me...I'll take two of the off white ones that match the gelcoat. Thanks a bunch for the good and kind effort. I know you aren't worrying about the dough right now, but do you want me to go ahead and PM you with my "details", or just wait until they arrive?

Thanks,
Mark

I removed the lazerette OEM Bomar hatches because of regular leakage from rain, sea, and washdown on the Bomar, and installed this same deck access hatch pictured in the post for "The Hawk is here,'" known to me as manufactured and distributed by Imtra Marine. As I recall, the Bomar require some work to remove, with care given to avoid damage to the gelcoat, and there was some filing to get the correct fit for the new hatches, and some new drilling to match the deckplate pattern of the Imtra hatch. Imtra recommends use of silicone sealant so the plasic is not weakened. Both hatches were replaced in two hours.

Flawless performance over the last 6 months in sea, rain, and washdown - no leakage at all.

Hope this helps.

Does anyone know the cutout dimensions? I have a CD25, the hatches are larger and more rectangular, probably have to get a completely different model.

Well Joel, my CD25 doesn't have any lazerettes to put hatch covers on so I don't need any, but I sure want to thank you for doing this and for making it so easy for all the leaky hatchers on here. That's just plain nice.
