    25 Tomcat at Port Townsend

Thanks guys! Good to be back. And Tom, I'm ready for the big flat rascals -- guess I better talk to BC and hook one of those 400# monsters. Dusty

    25 Tomcat at Port Townsend

Thanks gents! Appreciate the info. Probably look at her next week -- the listing doesn't state much about equipment other than the Garmin (heat, etc.), but she looks a bit over priced to me. Certainly is a good looking rig though, and worth a trip to PT. Dusty -- so good to post here again...

    25 Tomcat at Port Townsend

Port Townsend Tomcat. Any of you seen the 25 Tomcat advertised by a broker? My fishing partner is really interested. Dusty

    Veteran's Day

Charley, Thanks old buddy -- I needed that, but it's amazing what 50 years and 50 pounds (mostly around the waist) will do to one's present looks!! You are invited to my 91st birthday party this Feb. -- bring single malt, okay? Dusty -- and thank you for your service, Charley

    I will miss you, mom...

Mark, Beautifully stated, and going away is never easy. The bond of love keeping your parents together is something you will always remember and will give you strength in later years. Like your parents, we are “older” folks. I celebrated my 90th birthday a couple of weeks back, and we have...

    West Coast Picture Help

Can't remember why -- and the reason was probably not logical. Wish that I had that one back!! Because of my lack of limberness (careful!!) I had a difficult time climbing out of the head in the 24... but it was a great boat and my wife's favorite. Dusty

    Flying B-Boat

Boris, I was deeply involved iin the Boeing foil. And yes, it was used commercially but not very successfully. The Hawaii operation was a total disaster! If you'd like more please PM. Too much BS to post here -- don't want Bill to ban me!! Dusty

Looking for info on Aft bulkhead replacement Classic model

Doug, Les sez very straightforward. Remove bolts, break sealant, and remove the bulkhead. Use the old bulkhead as pattern for new one. He used teak-faced marine plywood -- same thickness as the old one. Photo no help -- just a picture of the new bulkhead. HTH, Dusty

Looking for feedback on 6hp kickers

Very little difference in get-home-ability between a 6 and 9.9. use them both regularily, and like Dr. Bob have spent many hours in crappy weather runniing the kicker on a big boat. The little 6 Tohatsu will push our 22 to 5 or 6 -- the 9.9 Yamaha 7 or 8. No way are you going to have enough...

Looking for info on Aft bulkhead replacement Classic model

Hi Doug, Long time no see! I'll touch base with Les Jr. -- we just replaced the bulkhead in our old 84 Classic. Les did the work, I supervised.  I'll relay from Les or get him to contact you... the replacement was pretty spendy for this old guy (+/- 500 bucks), but it looks...

Ideal fishing boat for W. Coast Vancouver Island?

I'm certain that you will love the TC255. All boats are compromises, as we all know. Dr. Bob has given a great rundown on the capabilities of the TC255 on this site -- and my experiences jibe with his. In the 24TC all was cool until trying to drive into 7-8 ft. head seas -- common where I used...

Ideal fishing boat for W. Coast Vancouver Island?

So many great boats, so little time. The Silver Streak 27 ft. boats out of Port Renfrew are about as seaworthy as you can get in a trailer boat and are great fishing machines. Because they normally fish Swiftsure they have to be good!! There are several other very good builders on Vancouver...

Ideal fishing boat for W. Coast Vancouver Island?

Warren, you have a great fishing boat now -- it will do it all. Any boat on my list of big boats, and I wouldn't want any of them back except the 24 Tomcat, would make the price per pound of salmon approach the nation debt. We all have different fishing needs, and mine are certainly far...

Ideal fishing boat for W. Coast Vancouver Island?

Should add that I really don't like a deep V with twins in heavy weather. All of my deep V twins were a PITA in any weather where the boat was really rolling. One prop was always out of the water, which makes throttle control a full-time job. When fishing you can always single up, but if you are...

Ideal fishing boat for W. Coast Vancouver Island?

Gotta chime in here because BTDT many different ways. We normally go outside via Sooke to Bamfield, and mostly fish way out there off Ucleulet. Boats I have owned and used for this include Bertram 32, Hatteras 34 and 41, Stamas 26, Tomcat 24, Whaler 19, 22 and 26, Skagit Orca, Botved 32, Pierson...

    Seasport rumor

Hey Byrdguy, love ya man. I've had 6 C-Dory boats now, plus the Skagit Orca (built by C-Dory). Of all of 'em I'd like to have my TC24 back! Sure, some quality control issues, but one great compromise of all the things I like to do. Bet you wish you had never sold her too! To keep the hijack...
