Toland 18-8

Hi C-Brats: We are the owners of a mint-condition Toland 18-8 that has always been garaged. We are artists who find ourselves near the bottom of the current economic food chain, who need to find a new, appreciative home for our friend.
Can give lots of specs and pix if you all know of anyone who might need/ want our perfect boat!
Ben Toland recommended we be in touch with you all!
Thanks,
Robert and Suzie Nankervis :smile :sad

Robert and Suzie,

What I would recommend is that you
1) Send a private message to Bill (AKA DaNag) to make sure it's OK to post a non C-Dory or Ranger Tug in the C-Dory Boats for Sale By Owner section of this site.

I assume that it's OK even though the posting rules and instructions say "C-Dory and Ranger Tug Ads ONLY! " - The Toland 18-8 is essentially a C-Dory (well at least a predecessor).

2) posting rules and instructions
3) Take a few pictures to show the boat's interior and exterior at various angles.
4) Post the photos and a more detailed description of the boat in the C-Dory Boats for Sale By Owner section of this site.

The links embedded in my post can be clicked on to do all you need to do. Good luck on your sale. Other C-Brats - you might want to visit Robert and Suzie's art on their web site. IF you like it, you can help them move up a ring on the economic food chain.

I also would love to see photos of your boat (and a price). Since we are including the Cape Dories and Ventures in this forum--the Toland 18-8 is basically the same heritage and certainly is part of the C Dory extended family. (Perhaps even more than the Ranger Tugs are).

the Tolands 18-8 was built after the cd22 success I think Ben or one of the Brothers split from C-dory and made the 18-8. That was when a lot of Boat builders were building 18-20 ft cuddy cabin boats . I looked at one back in the late 80s it was finished off much nicer in the cabin then c-dory. It was a little narrower in the beam. They only made 6 or so of these fine boats . They ran very well on 50hp . I believe Des Moines marina carried them for the Tolands (Ben)

The Boat is like the c-22 cruiser with wallas stove and water tank and barber chair with table . A very neat design that would fit in a lot of garages It was very pricey for a small boat especially when one could buy a 20ft Sea Ray cuddy for about the same price .

I've always thought the Toland 18-8 was a perfect fit alternative in between the open CD-16's and the CD-22s, unless, of course, you wanted an open fishing boat without a rear Alaskan bulkhead and the cruising amenities, in which case the CD-19 would be your fishing machine.
