    We did it!

Congratulations and welcome to the Keweenaw contingent of C-Dory owners, there are about a dozen in the area. Feel free to call or PM about Isle Royale or any questions about these (your) great boats. Jay

Is There Room In The Cockpit Of A 22 Cruiser

This is what I did for seating and adds lots of storage too. Plenty of room to open the door and latch it open. Smaller cockpit yes but 4 people can sit on that bench and how many passengers are you taking? Throw cushions make it more comfy...

Normal wear and tear on hull?

I have a 2002 with a lot more gel coat cracks than you show. I have about 1500 hours on Lake Superior, some rougher than I liked. I would say no worries with what you show. Jay

    locked out of our C-Dory

I purchase a magnetic backed key box like the kind you used to able to use on cars/trucks before plastic was used everywhere and you could open the hood without unlatching it from inside the vehicle (reveals my age, eh!). I glued a similar sized piece of sheet metal to the rear ceiling of the...

    Trailering, engines up or down?

ssolbol, I fully agree with your last post. Note that I said "This twisting is minimal if the OB is not raised." So I agree there is always some twist. As for the saver's advertised functions, marketing guys/gals are sales people not engineers/scientists and are addressing the general public in...

    Trailering, engines up or down?

My thought is that the transom saver supports minimal weight and its main purpose is to prevent twisting of the transom caused by the motor bouncing (actually the lower unit moving up and down thus flexing the top of the transom at the OB's attachment point)when the OB's lower unit is raised and...

    Trailering, engines up or down?

I agree with sssobol on the transom saver analysis except for his comment that says the stress will be on the transom if the saver is attached to the transom instead of the trailer. If attached at the base of the transom, there could be no movement because of the hull/stern attachment at that...

    Trailering, engines up or down?

I trailer with engines down, plenty of clearance - CD-22 with twin Honda 40's on an EasyLoader with rollers. Seems best to tether a wood block if used - bad bump and wood flying at 60 mph seems like a bad story. Jay

Here we go again - Yamaha 9.9 verse Suzuki 9.9

Living at elevation 7000 I would think you will need to change jets in carb engine and do nothing with EFI. Don't know how easy it is to change a jet but if going to coast occasionally I would be changing jets or at least checking plugs for too lean or too rich; maybe you can get away without...

    Bertram 28

Bertrams are great boats. I'm familiar with the 26's and 31's. Yours looks outstanding and like a great performer. Jay

    Wallas stove/heater install

When connecting the brass fitting on the fuel line to the brass fitting on the stove make sure that you tighten the fitting until you hit a stop. Way back I learned not to tighten brass fitting too tight or you'll gaul them up. When I installed my new Wallas a few years ago I just tightened it...

    best motor for C-16?

Good research. Sounds like 145# for dead weight (maybe increased reliability but I doubt that considering how reliable the Hondas are) in the stern of a stern heavy boat. Look for a CD16 with a Honda. Jay

    Honda buzzer

Thanks Boris. A logical plan to isolate the problem and it follows what the pro said which was it was either a bad sensor or a ground short in a wire. Next time out I'll give it a try. Jay

    Honda buzzer

Checked with the pro and no fault codes on carburetored Hondas. Guess I'll just put up with some random buzzing until it gets persistent. Jay

    Honda buzzer

The buzzer buzzing is the alarm buzzer in the control box. Yes the Honda pro did fix the pinched wires. I will check with the pro to see if he checked fault codes. Jay

    Honda buzzer

One of my 2002 Honda 40 buzzes randomly (at least to me it's random). A Honda pro checked it out and found pinched wires in the control box and a test run had no buzzing. However, a short test run is no comparison to a Lake Superior crossings which had random buzzing. No warning lights come on...

Isle Royal National Park News Michigan

Tom, I need to visit Camp Clow. Let me know when you'll be there and I'll come over for a visit; that way you won't have to divert to Houghton which is really not on the way; unless of course you want to visit here, I would love to have you visit. Good luck with the fishing; I don't have any...

    cabin privacy curtains

I use screens made for car windows to protect a baby from the sun. They attach by suction cups, are easy to store and cheap but don't give total privacy. Also great to keep cabin cooler on sunny days. Jay
