I am planning on ordering a new Wallas stove top heater combo to install in the TomCat. If anyone has any tips on installing one of these units it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Rick

Beside to fallow the instructions to a "T". You want the power supply to be to a solid source which will give 12.6 volts when you start the stove. Fuse it at that point.

Get any aIr out of the fuel line before firing it up. I follow the "bubble" up to be sure it is all of the way into the pump. (I have slightly pressurized the container to push fuel up to the top of the fuel line.

Have lagging insulation and SS zip ties for the exhaust.

Think carefully where you want the stove before cutting. I always put a "rack" with teak trim in back of the stove; There are lots of items you want to have handy in the galley...like salt and pepper etc. We keep dish soap, insect spray, small halon fire extinguisher, hand soap or sanitizer, etc in this area.

When connecting the brass fitting on the fuel line to the brass fitting on the stove make sure that you tighten the fitting until you hit a stop. Way back I learned not to tighten brass fitting too tight or you'll gaul them up. When I installed my new Wallas a few years ago I just tightened it up snug enough, I thought. Well the Wallas didn't work well at all. Called ScanMarine and discussed the situation and was told that even a hairline crack will admit air and screw the operation up. Went back to the fitting and snugged it up until I hit a positive stop and it has worked great ever since.

Thanks all,
I plan on ordering in the next week and hopefully have installed by end of September. Weather here in Northern Ca. has been very hot so hopefully I can get some cool mornings to work on the project.
I really appreciate all the the help available on the C-Brats forum and hope we are able to meet a few of you on the water someday.
We really want to get back up to BC area as we haven't been there since we owned the Boston Whaler Conquest

Not sure what type of threads these are but if they are brass on brass pipe thread use Teflon tape. Normally pipe thread does not require Teflon but brass on brass builds up friction before the male end goes in far enough for the threads to seal as designed. The Teflon provides lubrication to overcome this friction - allowing the parts to mate to the point where the threads will seal.
