    found it on craigslist

Not only cheaper (especially since the $CDN is at about $0.945 US) but PBH are great people to do business with.

    Nordic Tug furloughs workforce

At the risk of playing devil's advocate, maybe Wrights are producing the number and mix of boats with which they are comfortable and which gives them the ROCE they want and need. Is the plant at an optimum operating point perhaps?

    Transom drain plug

This thread was a good reminder! We leave the boat in the water thought is covered so no rain issues but I had forgotten to sponge out the bilge pump area. The residual water after using the manual switch position to drop the water below the auto level is minimal but a freeze could damage the...

    Securing to a buoy

Thanks Mike I wasn't being critical, just thinking that I was having an attack of incomprehension. Somehow they are becoming more common these days. 😕

    Securing to a buoy

That sounds interesting for calm water. At what angle does the boat lie when the wind picks up or the tidal current picks up?

    Securing to a buoy

As noted, there are many ways that buoys present themselves. The parks in BC seem to simply have a metal eye and a shackle. I have no problem taking the line through the guide on the anchor roller, leading it aft and picking up the buoy before taking the line back across the anchor roller and to...

    C-Brat Burgee Order

I hate to be a pain but can Chimo reduce their order from 2 to 1? If you have already ordered from supplier I will of course take them both. Thanks

    2007 26 Venture, $59,000 (Oregon)

Always on the lookout for an attractive upsize from our 23 and yours looks good. I do see some photos where the wiring is exposed. Is this a Venture or a Cape Cruiser? Thanks

    Safety check

Had the safety check boarding by the RCMP recently. I was lucky with the (2) fire extinguishers (one for motor and one for stove) as they were still current. In Canada they have to be inspected unnually. It was about 4:30 pm and the officer told me I was the first compliant boat that day. Most...

    onboard music

The jambox (smaller size) works Great for me! I use iPod or iPhone with Bluetooth for music. At anchor I connect to iPad for soundtrack of any movie I am watching. Battery life is long but I do charge from 12V outlet.

    09/06 - 09/08 - Vancouver Island Gathering 2013

There's a nice mention of the C-Brats gathering on page 11 of the Peninsula News Review (the local free newspaper) this morning. :)

    09/06 - 09/08 - Vancouver Island Gathering 2013

My "notes from a local" are already showing omissions! Boaters Exchange is now located at the corner of First and Bevan. That's a short walk from the marina. As you walk up past the Pier Hotel continue along First with the Fairway Market on the right. You will see Boaters Exchange on the right...

    09/06 - 09/08 - Vancouver Island Gathering 2013

By Friday morning I should have a local map with an info. sheet ready for each boat as they check in at the marina office. Don't forget to as for your copy! The comments will be carefully worded as likes and dislikes can be VERY personal :!: Though Chimo won't be on the dock until Saturday...

    09/06 - 09/08 - Vancouver Island Gathering 2013

I have booked Chimo in for Friday night only. H dock is now full of C-Brats but I managed to get on the end. I think the slip number is H37. My wife and I will still be joining the dinner at Fish on Fifth for Friday night and for the potluck so looking forward to meeting everyone.

Anyone else ever left their plug out?

Used to have a 13 ft Boston Whaler tied up at the dock in MD. I actually had a cover for it but would sometimes forget and a couple of good thunderstorms would fill the boat during our absence during the week. No risk of sinking but lots of gear got wet before the water went over the stern. In...

    Twin Engine Harmonics

I run twin 60 Yamahas. Each has its own tach. So synching is easy but I often do it just by ear. Just tweak the theottles until you get harmony.

    Double Hulled Boats

I have learned long ago that every boat is a compromise. Do we want space? mpg? Light weight? Unsinkable? Usually one has to trade off one feature against another. I loved my Boston Whalers in a previous life partly because they were unsinkable. I know Bob may disagree on that point but once...
