09/06 - 09/08 - Vancouver Island Gathering 2013

I have booked Chimo in for Friday night only. H dock is now full of C-Brats but I managed to get on the end. I think the slip number is H37. My wife and I will still be joining the dinner at Fish on Fifth for Friday night and for the potluck so looking forward to meeting everyone.

Update
Just a quick update:

1) We have at least 22 boats registered now and a few more possibles in the works!

2) We have 28 signed up for Fish on 5th for the Friday night dinner!

3) I think I have only had interest from 4 for the West Marine Visit on Saturday morning...

4) I have not had any response for the Scotty Factory visit on Friday morning...

Looking forward to seeing you all next Weekend!

Mike

I bet most of us hit WM at least once over the weekend. The manager Doug and his team are outstanding. Doug just earned his 10 year award as a top manager. Almost unheard of longevity at WM! We'll pop over during the morning. Don't let Doug eat all the donuts!! George

I will likely join the group and head to West Marine on Saturday .... nothing special on the shopping list but will be browsing at least.

Take care,
Dan & Tanya on C-Renity

By Friday morning I should have a local map with an info. sheet ready for each boat as they check in at the marina office. Don't forget to as for your copy! The comments will be carefully worded as likes and dislikes can be VERY personal :!: Though Chimo won't be on the dock until Saturday afternoon my wife and I will be at Fish on Fifth Friday evening if anyone wants to ask a local a question. Can't guarantee an answer for everything so be kind.

Will you please put us down for Fish on 5th as well. We are planning on crossing the strait Wednesday, weather dependent and then making our way through Dodd Narrows and down.

Nearly time for the off, boys and girls. Anyone hanging out in the Gulf Islands before the gathering, Nomad will be in anchoring in Clam Bay, Thetis Island, Thurs evening.

Have a great trip.

Martin.

I just read in one of my cruising guides for H dock, Sidney marina. Even numbers are on the North side, odd numbers are on the South side. Hope this helps if you didn't already know.

Martin.

I just phoned in and confirmed a reservation for 30 of us at Fish on 5th for 5:30 on Friday evening! See you all there! I expect to leave H dock around 5:15...

Let me know if you have any questions?

The event tent area has around 35 chairs, so if you have one with you, we may need a couple more as there may be over 40 of us...

It will take me 15 minutes to walk to A dock

Thanks Mike, good job.

Martin.

Name tags are made for:

C-Sprite, Blue Skies, Thalassa, Casper, Knotty C, Harmony and Chimo and will be available somewhere on H dock!

Looking forward to seeing some of you tomorrow and others on Friday!

If any of you are cruising around the area, you may enjoy Mark Bunzel's report in the most recent Wagonner Cruising guide:

Features many local marinas and their highlights - including Sidney:

Port Sidney needs to be mentioned as one of the nicest marinas on the coast. The docks are wide and beautiful. The laundry and washrooms are better than most, and the staff is courteous and helpful. Sidney is a great urban marina destination.

Sorry fellow C-brats but we've had a change of plans. We were originally going to arrive Friday but would have had to leave early Saturday morning. Now it looks like we need to cancel. Have fun in Sidney!
