Foam in bow of 16' - necessary

I had a 5hp Honda on our 16 footers. I really enjoyed puttering around at its max speed, 5mph. But, if I were to do it again I would opt for a 3.5hp Tohatsu, probably $700 less expensive, 20 lbs lighter, and almost as "fast".

Moving up from a CD22 but where and when does it stop?

Get a 16 footer. Find a nice resort or motel wherever you launch from. Let your wife enjoy the land base while you play around on the 16 footer. You'll both be happy.

    Cover for 16' cruiser

My advice is to have a slant back made as well as the dropdown "door". For me those two canvas items, along with a driver's side electric wiper and the articulated trailer tongue (which I think you have), are basic 16 cruiser necessities.

I bought it now what do I do?

Well, my secret was marrying a woman who spent the first 18 years of her life living aboard a boat with two parents, two brothers and a dog. When we bought our first boat she only had two demands, the only wood could be a flag staff, and the cleats had to be beefy. We've been married over 60...

    Jeff Bezos' new sailing yacht

Harvey- your kindness blows me away. I guess we are really rich already. Like the hymn says, " I was blind but now I see."

    Jeff Bezos' new sailing yacht

If I were rich I would buy the new 16 footer at Master Marine in Mt. Vernon. ($45,000). Then I would have it put in dry stack at the Coal Creek ramp in Bellevue. They would put it in the water for me and I would cruise passed Bill Gates house where we would exchange a friendly wave. Then I'd...

    Daily Laugh 2

An Englishman and an Irishman go to a bakery. The Englishman steals three buns and puts them into his pockets and leaves. He says to the Irishman: “That took great skill and guile to steal those buns. The owner didn’t even see me.” Long “That’s just simple thievery,” the Irishman replied. “I’ll...

    16 Cruiser Prop

Personally, I think your motor is better off at 4400 rpm and you are safer at 24mph. Just my take.

    16 Cruiser Prop

If you're getting 30 mph with this one, you're doing real good with this size prop. Stick with this size and maybe slow down.

Passing of Warren Keuffel - AKA Doryman

Warren was a wonderful guy. He took me under his wing at a CBGT at Bellingham years ago when I travelled there solo on my 16 footer. It turned out that a close relative of his was athletic director at our son's high school in NJ. Warren always seemed to me like family on this site. He didn't...

    Canada - US Border

Well, I have read all the battling "facts' above. Some where along my life's journey I picked up some guiding principles. Obviously they are not original with me. Perhaps true and perhaps mythology, but they work for me. Here.. 1. Feed the hungry 2. Care for the sick 3. Welcome the stranger If...

    Boating Alone

I have no comment on your 'gentleman's discreet urinal".( Me, I used a milk jug) However I find your use of a stool for your stools intriguing. A folding stool/stool, yes that works for me.
