I respect Canadian officials keeping the border closed, especially when the US promotes the free flow of illegal immigrants on our southern border, many of which carry the COVID virus.

no doubt, my brother lives in Argentina and was talking about visiting, I suggested he join caravan and walk up. He wouldn't have to mess with covid protocols and could probably also get a bunch of free stuff.

Well those win the stupid comments of the day award!

The truth is somehow so “offensive”. What are “stupid “ about them, specifically?

I think the wrath came from your premise below (or was that part of the joke too?):

.....US promotes the free flow of illegal immigrants on our southern border, many of which carry the COVID virus

It appears you dislike facts. Typical.

Raw number for border enforcement encounters by year.
https://www.cbp.gov/newsroom/stats/sout ... encounters

Biden admin to its credit started vaccinations of migrants as well.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/joewalsh/2 ... c9d87d1774

Only about 15-20% of migrants at the border actually had covid. That they were dispersed throughout the country had more to do with pure numbers and the goal to spread the group around and out of border areas. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/immigr ... e-n1276244

No surprise that more people are coming to the US as the economy picks up. We need them to reduce the labor costs at the lower end job scale otherwise we would see higher inflation than we already do. And we all need cheap labor.

...free flow....
How would you define the meaning in the English language of the phrase "free flow"?

Definition of free-flowing

: characterized by easy freedom in movement left unchecked

From your "vaunted" CNN:

https://www.cnn.com/2021/03/31/politics/migrants-us-southern-border/index.html

https://www.twincities.com/2021/08/...nts-at-texas-border-isnt-driving-covid-cases/

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/20...hern-border-july-covid-pandemic-21-year-high/

I could post more...but I think you get my point. This is also for Colby. Above are what are known as FACTS. Now you can call ME "stupid" too. Amazing.

Tell me, Sandy. I know you live on a virtual private island, surrounded by The Sound (a very large "moat") and accessible only via boat/ferry. Must be nice and safe there.

Do you also have a lock on your front door? Do you lock your boat at a marina? I know the answers are "yes". So my response is "why"? Anyone should be allowed into your home and onto your boat, unchecked. Think of them as "free flowing" into your life. Oh, that's only for everyone ELSE...

Localboy, your facts and sources are usually laughable at best. The truth remains the current administration is not pushing for or allowing free flow immigration at the border, immigrants are not responsible for the spike in COVID numbers in the republican controlled colonies of Texas and Florida and I’ll stick with my earlier comments regarding any other rediculous bs being sputtered by the republicans that isn’t based in real facts.

This admin is much friendlier toward accepting immigration. I don't think anyone can seriously dispute that. And not sending those migrants back while waiting for adjudication of their case encourages more migrants to come. Invasion? Depends on your point of view. Huge impact at the border but those of us in WI and WA can just sit back and not worry - right? This admin has ENCOURAGED the migration to the US because of the view that we need cheap labor, these people are better off in the US, it is our moral duty to save the world, etc... I don't see why there is any denial that this admin sees immigration as a benefit and refuses to acknowledge impact to the poor labor communities, POC, and stress on local resources close to the border.

When overwhelmed, admin tried to say "stop coming" - but that was too late. They even reallocated government managers across different agencies to deal with the crisis and moved migrants to the interior. You can look at the messaging post-election ... But any searches show the same....

As to the notion that blue states are worse than red states for covid, that is difficult to assess. In fact, highest per capital DEATHS are all in solid blue states - NY/NJ in particular. So it depends what you want to measure... Of course, most of the deaths there were early in the pandemic and some fatal mistakes were made.

CA is not much better overall than Tx or FL. They are very similar demographics/sizes with vastly different responses to covid (lockdowns, masks, etc...) Of course, we have made covid a political weapon so now media doesn't care so much about per capita death rates by states (since the "wrong" states would be implicated), but now focus on hospital rates or covid positivity testing. Odd of course... Or you simply look at the "latest" trend (NYT's specialty).

Cuomo may be gone because of the sex harassment issue - but really he lost the trust of the party with his covid response which was less than stellar, and I think the real reason he resigned (the sex case was just the excuse to get him out).

Simply look at the headline changes even for Biden - he knows this was a disaster.
Our immigration policy is made up on the fly (due to both parties) and much different than any other country in the world. If we look to the North, it is very difficult to immigrate into Cananda unless you have money and can be self supporting, or if you can start up a business, etc...

Well, I have read all the battling "facts' above. Some where along my life's journey I picked up some guiding principles. Obviously they are not original with me. Perhaps true and perhaps mythology, but they work for me. Here..

1. Feed the hungry
2. Care for the sick
3. Welcome the stranger

If anyone knows the origin I would appreciate your passing it on.
Thanks

OK, great. Now we're getting somewhere :). So allow me to take your definition and substitute it for the phrase "free-flowing" in the sentence you have claimed is fact. So do you maintain as fact that:

".....US promotes the easy freedom in movement left unchecked of illegal immigrants on our southern border, many of which carry the COVID virus"
Mark, do you really believe as fact that the migration across our southern border is best characterized as being left unchecked? Seems to me there are lots of checks in place: ICE, Border Patrol; detention centers; drones; infrared cameras, even walls and barbed wire. Does that strike you as "freedom in movement" that is completely "unchecked". Facts are facts.....there isn't really any almost-facts.
