The "joys" of the crowded anchorage

We got our first boat (CD-22) because we loved being on the water. But another reason was that we were tired of camping next to folks that had boom boxes or generators (we later found out that some of those people had boats too). While I generally like boat people (and C-Brats in particular) I...

    SeaPiper 34

I'm always a bit skeptical of new boats for which there are no actual pictures. In addition one of the simulated pics shows this craft making good speed and creating a wake that I would not expect from a 34 ft boat with a 110 hp engine. In addition the narrow beam would bother me.

    Price

About ten years ago I decided to sell my 1988 Landcruiser. It was in perfect shape, had 120,000 miles on it and but had a Blue Book of $2800. Looking at auto trader and researching the web I saw that some similar rigs sold for up to $12,000. So I listed it at $9000 and the phone rang off the...

Government Island dock at Sandy Beach on the Columbia

Any Columbia River Brats know what happened to the Government Island dock at Sandy Beach? It looks like something big hit it separating the two main docks.

    Mixing kerosene and Kleen Heat

I used diesel, kerosene and Kleen Heat in my CD-22. I started with diesel but didn't like the smell if the wind was blowing the wrong way. I switched to kerosene but found it to also have a smell. For the last 8 years (out of 10) I used Kleen Heat. I never had problems with my Wallas but I used...

    Boat heaters

My CD-22 had a Wallas. Although I never had any problems with it (used it 3-4 times a month year-round and only with Kleen Heat for ten years) I always wondered about alternatives. It was barely adequate for cooking and as for heating it was poorly situated to distribute warmth throughout the...

    we have gone bigger!

I had a 2003 CD-22 that I used 450 times and really enjoyed the flexibility it afforded me and my family. In 2012 I bought a Camano Troll and never looked back. Times and situations change. Enjoy your new boat.

Always make sure to monitor your depth indicator to make sure you have enough water to make the pass.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ktwo-k-onk#t=289

Tough Tom Cat 255 Boating Day Ends with Sea-Tow

I arrived at Big Sky last January to find the Marinco shore power connector, as well as the end of the connecting power cord, all black and crusty. I remembered that the prongs had been loose. Fortunately was able to replace the connector and replaced the cord with the Marinco Eel which I am...

    List to Starboard

For me it was the batteries that made me list to starboard.

    Grease Gun

One issue with bearing buddies is that it is easy to overfill them. When that happens the excess just blows out through the back seal. You can feel the dried grease on the inside of the wheels if you've consistently overfilled them.

    "River Horse"

I’ve read quite a few books about boat trips and invariably they end up being about that author’s reflections on life. Not every author is a heroic boat-savvy captain. In fact the more flawed the writer the more interesting the tale. The most disappointing reads are those in which too much...

Honda 4 stroke 2 hp for sale

It is a 2000 short shaft with about 60-70 hours on it and hasn't been used for 5 years. Up to that time it was regularly maintained by Honda. It has been in warm, dry storage. It started last night with one pull.
