    Loan interest rates

You're probably right, Matt. In my case, I don't deduct the interest because it's expensed through my charter llc. Nonetheless, I'd rather pay 3% interest instead of a deductible 8% interest. -Greg

    Loan interest rates

I used a credit card offer of a fixed 2.9% to finance $28000 for my Devlin. Payments are higher than normal but that's fine. It will be paid off in 4 years or less. It's not a bad way to go, especially since it gave me a clean title in case I need to sell the boat. Remember...you can write...

    Water pump problem

In my Campion, I have a simple water system.....no hot water. Just flip the faucet knob and the water pump engages. It's always powered. The brand name of the pump is Togmaz or something like that (it's buried). Anyway...during the last freeze, I drained the water tank completely through...

    CD and speakers in Oregon

If you're willing to use the free dock at Kalama for a day, I can recommend my sound guy. He owns a shop in Longview but lives in Kalama. Easy for him to come to the marina. He installed a nice CD player with an IPOD jack. I'm certain he would cost less than Rodgers. -Greg

    04/11 - 04/12 - Cathlamet, WA

Though I don't own a C-Dory, I'd sure like to put some faces on the gang here. Would it be ok if I planned a brief visit but not take up a C-Dory owner's dock space? I'm thinking of a Coast Guard Aux. patrol with a lunch stop at Cathlamet. It's within my flotilla's area of responsibility...

    25' Boat Prices

We recently took a long, hard look at the 26' Trophy...a brand new '07 alaskan bulkhead version with full electronics, blue hull, etc. We negotiated it to 48k and then decided to stand pat with what we have. The Nordic you mentioned is waaay overpriced. I asked the salesperson why the price...

    Advantages of C-Dory ?

I don't own a C-Dory....yet....but do own and love pilothouse boats. The perspective I offer is that I went through three express cruiser boats, like the SeaRay, before we realized we hated living in a shoe with canvas all around. I'd take a 20 year old C-Dory over any new 25' express...

    Free, non-commerical radio

For those of you on an internet, air card connection, you might want to try Pandoraradio.com. No commercials...quick registration....and free. Basically, you create your own radio station by giving them a name of an artist, like Gordon Lightfoot. Wah-lah....up comes Gordy along with James...

What did you see at the boat show?

We just got back from the show. Some impressions.... 1. Ranger 29. An expanded version of the Ranger 25. Larger doghouse, head, bed, etc. Very impressive....but is the extra 4 feet worth an extra 100k? 2. Nordic Tug 26. Three small rooms and lots of stairs. 30k more than the Ranger...

What did you see at the boat show?

Marty, there are folks who have wooden boats because they enjoy, no thats not the right word, more like fixate or are obsessive compulsive about maintaining them. And that is what they do, scrape, sand, paint and more, over and over, and over and over, and over and over again and again and...

    Hitchin' a ride

The last weekend of March, we are in need of a tow on a suitable trailer. 30 miles from Brownsville to Belfair, one way. I'd cover your gas plus $100 for your time. The boat is my 27' Devlin, inboard. I suspect a trailer that handles a 25' boat could handle it. Thanks! -Greg

TC 24 For sale in Ft Meyers FL

Around 4k. I have a friend in Washington who can arrange for you. Very trustworthy. We shipped a Regal from Florida to Washington. Worked out well. We sold the boat for more than we bought it for. Do have it surveyed, especially for the "Florida" effect. There's a saying...."you can take...

    Batteries charging question

Agree wholeheartedly! The previous owner to us took out the frig and installed shelves. My wife is very grateful for the galley storage. We've used a small cooler in combination with a 12v warmer/cooler. Never a problem, especially since we have an 1500W inverter powered by two golf cart...

    1/2 ton vs. 3/4 ton

Based on the advice of y'all, I bought a red 2002 GMC Sierra 2005 SLT with crew cab and short bed. Truck has all the goodies, leather included, custom wheels, on-star, etc. One owner who bought a newer Sierra with diesel. Has canopy and bed slider. Perfect condition. 92k miles. Paid $9500...

    Welcome Sportcraft!

You sure they had the R-29? I think you're mistaking it for the CD-29. Nonetheless, fine people. We came very close to buying an R-25 from them for a spectacular deal. -Greg

    1/2 ton vs. 3/4 ton

From what I was told by a dealer, quadrasteer was a $7000 option. I've never driven a rig with it so I'm not sure it's worth the money. I doubt if it's helpful in a towing situation. Driving around town...different story. -Greg

    1/2 ton vs. 3/4 ton

Thanks for the info and assurance! Yes to the 4X4. With the truck camper on, sans a boat, I plan to rough it a bit in the hills. As to the quadrasteer question, I don't enjoy manuevering a pickup in tight quarters. One thing I'll miss about my Exploder is it's tight turning radius...
