For the Admirals among us - Happy Mothers Day.

I'm taking Mom for a C Dory ride tommorrow... Supposed to be 43 degrees & raining sideways, but she isn't gonna let me out of the deal... It's our annual "Me & Mom" boat ride, she hasn't missed one in years! Happy Mothers Day to all you mothers!

EZ Loader EZ19-22/24 Trailer Adjustments for CD-22

My recommendation is to first fit the boat to the trailer. The boat should be able to move forward enough to get the transom within just an inch or so of the bunks. One you have this set, then you need to move the axle carriage forward to set the tongue weight to approx 10% of the total...

    Article on Electrical systems

Not trying to sell anything here... But I just read an article in "Go Boating" magazine on electrical systems. If you have any curiosity at all on battery capacity, wire size selection, or just plain doing a neat job of wiring, this is a really good read... It's called "Do You Have the Power"...

    Boat Soap...the GREAT rip off

Might be a sticky subject for a dealer to post a reply... but here goes... My personal preference is, and always has been, JOY. It's safe for almost all of the vinyl as well as plastic surfaces, and you gotta love the lemon scent. Been using it for 28 years. Stole the first supply of it from...

    Blown fuse on trim tabs

To blow a fuse that fast, I would suspect a shorted wire. Carefully check the back of the switch panel to be sure you don't have two wires touching. Then check the rest of the harness to be certain you dont have wires that got pinched somewhere, causing a switched "on" wire to be shorted to...

    ETEC Cold Water Performance

I'd also like to see an actual temp reading from the thermostat housing. Just to compare it to the reading the EMM says it's reading. In other words... Is the engine running at the temp the EMM "thinks" it's running at?

    ETEC Cold Water Performance

Fact of the matter... Comparing an engine that is running properly is a pefectly viable diagnostic tool. Or... Even better... Get a printout of your own engine when it is running well to use as a "control". Save it in your boat papers, then if you have an issue use this as a comparison. Tom...

    Anchor and compass question

Without knowing much about your area... I tend to agree with Les, with the following exceptions... I never go anywhere without my "boy scout" compass and a watch. Even a rather inexpensive dash mounted compass mounted on the underside of the shelf could be useful. Craig

Props, 3 blade vs 4 blade

Your engine is rated (and recommended) to run to 6000 rpms. As long as the prop lets the engine do this, then you'll be fine. You may have to drop down in pitch to accommodate the 4 blade. The added blade does put more load on the prop(for the same pitch) Also, the 3 blade will be more...

Questions About Installing a New Chartplotter

If the total distance from the (Batt +) through the entire circuit (to the windlass motor) and back to (Batt-) is less than 50ft you can use 6ga wire for the windlass, so long as you don't run anything else on the circuit. I would run the windlass circuit separate from the "house" system just...

Questions About Installing a New Chartplotter

I think Les expounded on what I was attempting to say, and further with specs for wire sizes, etc... And... Based on his specs, (which I concurr with) It would be possible to run almost anything and everything on 6 ga Batt+ and Batt- wires. Again the whole trick is to get "clean" circuits...

Questions About Installing a New Chartplotter

I recommend you use the buss bar/fuse panel. If you have no interference then you're fine. If you do, then you can always run wire directly to the battery. ( try to keep the actual number of terminals attached to the battery to a minimum. remember, every connection is a possible cause of...
