he was offering it at $7K without the motor (a 70hp). lots and lots of work and many dollars to basically rebuild a shell. looks like a hole in the water to me- but if you are so inclined....
My 23 with 115 Yamaha has Permatrim. Brings the nose down quicker and holds it down as you slow. Improves forward vision.
Had Permatrim on my 19 too. It is arguably the best thing you can do for a C-Dory. Never valued trim tabs.
Just one mans opinion.
That sucks. It is a gut shot, even if all is covered and replaced.
From my limited knowledge it looks like way too much work for the "average" tweaker.
I haven't seen it mentioned.. but if you bottom paint and trailer a lot (vs leave in a marina) loading is stickier and your paint will rub off on the roller/bunks. Still seems better to paint in the NW.
I have the Merc version (optimax) 2 stroke on my "not the Dory". Good weight to power and seems reliable, although it does not like trolling. In many areas there is little to no resale value on a two stroke, so that is something to think of too.
Cabelas sells an aluminum C shaped spring that will raise the seat about 2 inches. Uses all the original holes and is easy. Made all the difference in the world on both my 19 and 23 for forward visibility. It does reduce the space between the bottom of the wheel and your legs. I don't have...
Hi
My personal favorite is Cahuita on the Caribe side. Reefs to fish and snorkel. Long miles of beaches and a Natl Park. Not as developed and Less tourista and very laid back. Hotter though than the west side or the highlands. Favorite hotel is the Hotel Playa Negra- http://www.playanegra.cr/...

Take a hard look at "Salmon Fisher" advertised above. Good boat if it is in your price range. Patrick will be more than fair.
Also look at a Credit Union for more realistic financing. I've had good luck with BECU and Horizon.
And if you and yours want a ride let me know.
Good luck

Consider plastic or fiberglass tanks as replacement. Even with flow meters/gages/engine consumption tracking/NMEA2000 stuff, there is no better comfort than being able to eyeball your fuel level. Aluminum doesn't offer that.
Enjoy the boat.

Consider Riffe lake or Mayfield Lake in Lewis county. Riffe has free launch during the week at either end, has some coves to tie up in on the north shore for overnighters and a lot of Kokanee and trout. Its 10 or 12 miles long and relatively calm. Water levels change a lot sometimes so...
If Toyota was ever to put a fair size diesel in the Tundra (rumored every year) it would sell like hotcakes.
Overseas the diesel Hilux -which is basically a Tacoma- is the truck of choice everywhere; for hunters, farmers and terrorists. For fun look up "how to kill a Toyota" on you tube.
