World's Best Hose............

Hi Everyone
We are awiting our R-25 and are purchasing a few items in anticipation. Recommendations on a hose? One that is not too heavy, coils easily at the slip, does not kink, and can be stowed on the boat for longer trips. We are in the PNW in salt water. Length?

The "Handi-Hose" from West Marine. Flat, roll-up, in it's own container. $49.99 Catalog p #353. Model 387654 works fine for us.

In the past, we had a roll up hose, which must have been mislabled--it should have been a "Soaker"--

We used the RV hoses from Wal Mart--or the super coil hoses which are the tight coil, like are supplied with the wash down pump.

Bob,
I'll admit I had one of those too. Sold the boat because it was also getting very leaky (with money).

The reason I like it is you can roll it up and stow it without having to emulate the crocodile hunter having a fight with an anaconda. When you want it again, it is all in one place and not mating with the rest of the contents in the locker.

Kerry & Nancy,

Since we're slip-mates, why not use my hose for a while until you feel like you absolutely need one. As long as we're not trying to use it at the same time, it saves money and the inevitable hose-fight when trying to squeeze two hoses next to one another.

Just a thought.

Carl,
Your suggestion sounds like the best one. Will still need to purchase one to store on the boat, but we will take you up on your offer to share yours at the slip.

We were down there yesterday. Your temp. slip mate should be arriving any day.

My wife buys nylon "gym bags" at garage sales. I've been stowing items like
this in bags so they don't get entangled in everything. I even have a
50' 30 amp shore cord in one. It's a little hard to get the cord in the bag, but
then I can stow the stern anchor, the cord, the hose, etc, in different bags
all near each other without a mess. I suppose mildew might be a problem after a while...we'll see.

Mike,
That is a great idea. I have a couple around the house I will try out (in August). The r-25 has an aft storage compartment I was thinking about using for electrical cords etc. Your idea may just do the trick.
