World cats and sea sports

I was down at Hilton Harbor this afternoon and had the chance to meet the president of world cat boats. Hilton Harbor is going to be a dealer for these boats. They should have a 32' pretty soon. It will be interesting to see how they compare to the tomcat. I've never seen one in person.

In our discussion I also learned that the c-dory factory is again producing sea sport boats. Maybe this has already bee reported here but the factory evidently has the molds and are in the process of building a 24' SS.

My personal opinion after looking at the World Cat 27, 29/30 and 32 is that the Tom Cat has the best cruising accommodation. The World Cat is a very fine boat--and rides very well. Has a great reputation. The Glacier bay 2690 is next in accommodations--but not up to the Tom Cat. Glacier Bay is displacement hull, so rides better into chop--but not as well down and cross wave pattern. Once you get to the 34' boats (and the WC 32 has a 12'10" beam and the Glacier bay 34' has a 13' 3" beam!)--the Glacier Bay has a wonderful layout---but this is a 34 footer, and there are a lot of 34 foot or so cats with loads of room--such as the PDQ!

If I had the money, the SeaSport 32' cat (the "Pacific 3200") is a damn nice boat. I've looked at those boats longingly for quite awhile.

If Its Andy Brown you met , he is a very nice guy and has almost cornered the market on small and med size Cats. The Catamaran Group owns Worldcat,Livingston,Carolina Cat and Glacier Bay . They made a concerted effort to aquire Twin Vee as well when they were in recievership and didnt get it . They have great territory agreements with their dealers to provide service for the local buyers and to maintain value of their products and have a good quality ethic.
Have considered their product for some time .

Yes, it was Andy Brown. Hilton Harbor will be selling Livingstons and Worldcats. Evidently, the boats are selling well and ther is a backlog of orders. Hopefully that's an indicator that the boating business in general is on the upswing.

Roger I saw a 32 SS for sale recently and at the price being asked I'll be staying with the tomcat for quite some time!
