Ain't you glad Bill is a Nerd and not a Poobah? Me and old RF have been banned from places for less than the crap that's going on here.
The Just Be Nice line is not a rule, because we still don't have any rules. It is a suggestion, request, admonition, plea, or whatever you want to call it. Along with it goes the expectation of respect and decency.
I have received some requests to delete, edit, lock, or otherwise terminate this discussion. Sorry, we just can't be doing that. Over the years, it will prove its worth. One of the reasons for this forum's success is the type of people who participate. The same is true for the success of our many cruises and events. There is something about the C-Dory, with its common sense simplicity and charm, that attracts people whose personalities include the same traits. We are a group of people with vastly different lives yet remarkably similar lifestyles. That's why we all fit, and that's why we don't need a set of rules or a yacht club charter to have fun. The value in the above discussion is that it shows this off to a degree far greater than intended. That, too, is the reason we choose to remain strictly a C-Dory group. There is safety in associating with C-Dory people, and freedom from having to be told how to act.
So this thread stays, and I am going to continue to be nice. Not because I wrote the line at the top of our forum, but because I really am that way. That's why I bought the boat I have.
Please do not mock the 1000+ people I call friends. You are not putting too bright of a shine on the personality of the new Cape Cruiser.
