What about you "Tall Fella's"?

We in the early stages of shopping for a C Dori (19 Angler or 22 Angler) One very important Question.......I am 6'4" tall...am I going to be hunched over all the time in this boat? There has to be a few of you guys out there that are taller that 6'2" (cabin height of these boats). Is this going to be a problem for me?[/b]

Most of my questions about this boat I can research on line. There is just a wealth of information available. The more I learn, the more convinced I am that this is going to be my next boat. But this headroom question is kind of a big deal for me. AM I missing something? I would love to hear from a boat owner that is about my height.

The standard 22' c-dory has only 6'2" headroom. Works great for me as im only 6'0". When i was shopping, I saw a number of cruisers for sale with an optional extra tall cabin extension option. That may be what you need to look for. Also, the 25' has much more cabin headroom, I think. Somebody ele can chime in on that one.

The 22 has a high top option giving 6'6" headroom. There are some of those around. Not sure if the 19 came that way. On a new boat I'd bet Triton would do both boats. My 2 new ones I ordered standard top. So in answer to your question , yes there are some high tops. Good luck and welcome aboard. George

the cd25 has 6ft 10 in headroom the cd 22 has 6ft 2in headroom the high top has 6ft 6in ? the cd 19 has the same headroom as the cd 22 angler /cruiser .the cape cruiser/venture series 23/26 have 6ft 4in headroom I hope this helps

I am 6'2", our 2006 22 has a high top and there is plenty of clearance. Watch the door going out though, the red and white reflective tape on ours just about covers up the blood from my scalp!

I hear ya colobear...I hate bangin my head. sounds like the high top option in an Angler is what I'm looking for...now the shopping begins.

I love being 5'9".

my fishing buddy is 6'7" though so I have a little concern about his sleeping on a 22 Cruiser, but I figure my boat, his problem.

I'll second that about the doorways. For the first year we owned our boat the door frame looked like a scene from a Wes Craven movie.

My height has not kept me from enjoying our 22 Angler for the last 5 years, but bigger is often better.
I have hit my head a few times but that is part of regular tall living.
Our main family usage is making ocean fishing trips of 3-4 days.
At 6'4" my most comfortable spot is sitting at the helm.
The V berth is long enough to sleep tall adults with reasonable comfort
My son is also 6"4" and daughter 5'11"
After making some minor modifications to our cabinetry I created more space for comfortably sleeping two more tall adults cross ways in the cabin.
Yes..we can sleep 4 adults on our Angler.
If you can find a High top Angler I would recommend it, but I am not sure if they even exist.
All the best in your search.

Hi Jigger,

At 6' 3", my head almost touches the ceiling when sitting at the helm seat, and does bump when in rough seas. You'll need to sit in a "High Top" to verify that you're not hunched at the helm. The "high top" doesn't go full width of the helm seat. So, it depends on your body height from hips to head. Some of us are longer waisted than others. You also need to verify that you vision isn't blocked when sitting erect, or you'll hunch.
