What a pain today.

So we boat up, family, snacks, sunscreen, you know the drill. We're not two miles out and the nearly new etc stars acting like it's starved of gas, it won't do more than 2k on the rmps. I'm thinking, oh it must be a limp mode because I ran the primary starboard tank almost empty wanting to refuel with fresh stuff this afternoon. So I switch the selector over to port and no changes.... :crook Then the low oil light comes on, I read in the owners manual we've about five hours of operating time then it will be "no oil." OK, back to port. Top off the oil reservoir, think how about some nice fresh no ethonol gas. We head across our little bay limping there, and she cuts out, we almost hit another boat put some fuel in and away we go again, she won't do over 2k and again cuts out as we are heading straight into the dock...luckily we have only used the rub rail a few times, no major scratches. She is back on the lift. I have an email out as our kicker has no remote throttle I can't steer it and trottle as it's hooked up to the etc. I have no idea why it was done this way...maybe a new electric start, tilt with remote trottle will solve that problem. :smile
It was funny on the way off the fuel dock as two guys scrambled to assist us before we hit their vessel said, boating is a lot of work. Today that would be true. However, we all made it back under our own power and safely. :thup :wink

Based on your other posts, I think you have some major rigging issues with that e-tec. I would suggest checking out www.etecownersgroup.com, which is an excellent resource to diagnose potential problems. They are great motors, but they are sensitive to propper setup.

Yes I would agree. There is no reason a motor with only 54 hours should behave poorly. I'm going to be taking it into the Etc dealer. Check the prop, rpm range, fuel delivery, etc.

Gong back and re-reading all of your recent posts, I am suspicious of the fuel/tanks. Is it possible that the engine was not run for some time, and a certain amount of fuel was in the tanks...

Then, even discarding the old fuel, there was some in the injectors/lines etc--and this is the cause of all of the problems? There is also possibly an issue with "crud" in the bottom of the tanks and pickup tubes. If so these will have to be cleaned.

I agree at this point off to the Evenrude tech and an analysis is very much in order.
