WE'VE JOINED THE CLUB!

Congrats!!!

Look us up when you come up this way. I would be happy to tell you, or better yet I could show you, some good halibut spots up here in SE Alaska. I've enjoyed your posts and questions and look forward to hearing about your adventures.

Great name Mark "Au Kai" Now you need to have an album put in your new boat name. Maybe the POWERS TO BE will do that for you.
Looking forward to meeting you at Friday Harbor. Kate and I are heading off to Maui in a couple of weeks for two weeks. The good eating fish there are about as expensive now as the Halibut is.

I hope nobody minds if I jump in here to let the C-Brat World know that last week I signed a purchase agreement and placed a deposit for a new 2008 CD 22 Cruiser. Back in December ’08, while waiting for my wife’s car at the dealership, I saw a small ad in the Boating magazine. As soon as I got home, I went to the C-Dory website to check it out and it was love at first sight. I showed the boat to my wife Laura and it was an immediate “Yes”. The open bow runabout that we have not used in the last three summers will now pass to the capable hands of our two sons (Ramon 32 and Alex 29).

Since then, I have been reading these threads on a daily basis, learning more and more about these boats. She will be christened “Chiquitita”, meaning “Little One” in Spanish. Chiquitita is blue, comes with the high top, shore power, trim tabs, and the 90 hp Honda. We are also getting the camperback and a custom trailer so that we can fit her in our garage. It will be hard to wait until delivery date.

After Laura takes early retirement this coming June (high school teacher), the first stop will be the Apostle Islands in Lake Superior.

I hope to be a contributor in the future, after I get my feet wet.

Congratulations Mark, Ramon Sr and families. Like both the boat names you've selected and wish you safe and wonderous times ahead on the water and looking forward to hearing about your future adventures.

Mark, Congratulations on the new boat. You will enjoy I'm sure. Hope to get to cross wakes, maybe Friday Harbor. Like the name, and though definitely a howlee (sp) we do enjoy your home islands, the food and the music. Also, you will enjoy dealing with Matt and the folks at Kitsapp Marine. Very fine folks I believe.

Ramon Sr, Congratulation to you too. A mighty fine vessel you have chosen also. No end to the places you can go, the adventures to be had and to the memories to be made.

Glad that you are both here and we are looking forward to photos and adventure sharing.

Dave, not sure if the C-Dory is comparable to the "bug" or the "bus" but it is sure in there somewhere. Funny how the C-Brats often have simular ties in the background, Bikes, sailboats, cars, even food and drinks. Great bunch here, a lot like a family. Glad you all are here. :thup

Yes, Matt has been a good to deal with so far. Very professional, good communication and I thought the purchase went smoothly. He gave a little, I gave a little...it was less stressful than any car purchase I've done from a dealer. :wink We should be getting the papers from the title company this week and once that is done, I'll be driving down there to pick it up and get a quick instruction/intro on the nuances of 'AU KAI. Matt sent me a couple of pics of the camperback since it wasn't installed the day I looked at it. I'll try to post 'em here.

More to follow....

Congrats Mark on the new toy and on the wife working on her RN. The wife and I are both RN's. I actually met my now wife on a job interview, she was on the panel. I got the job and eventually the wife.

I set you up an album for all your pics and sent you a PM. Congratulations! (For the new boat, not the album.) This has been a real fun thread to follow.

It got even more fun when Ramon Sr. jumped in with the news about Chiquitita. I love this place!! Thanks for being here!

Ramon Sr. -

Congratulations! You're going to love your new boat and the new additions to your lifestyle. Congratulations for your wife's retirement, too. There are lots of school teachers on here, and we appreciate every one of them.

Mike

Congrats on the vessels!

Geez...we need to start getting a few more New England owners. I can't believe anyone up here still buys a boat with a canvas top. Ha ha, maybe they are deluded by the two weeks out of the year where it would be nice?

Spent the morning signing and notarizing all the paperwork. Title company & the bank have all they need. Once the funds are transfered and Matt gives the word, I'm off to Kitsap Marine, Port Orchard to take delivery. :D Ordered a Garmin 276C system via E-Bay, got a 14 lb Delta anchor coming up from Portland...

...Getting closer!

Good luck getting ANY sleep tonight! Feel like a kid at Christmas? :D

Good to hear the anticipation is now down to hours. Congrats on the new addition to the family!

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Mark, I just viewed the pix of your new 25' safely tucked away next to your house. She's looking good. Again, congratulations!
