West Marine 2008 Prices

I got the new West Marine Catalogue today. It looks as if prices are up 10% on some items, the same on others. I went to get the 2:1 (less than Port supply) on the liquid rollers--and our local store only had one can. (The second can will be here thursday, when my Manson Supreme anchor arrives. I will test the Delta, Manson and fortress and danforth knock offs this weekend--assuming good weather.

That is so funny about the 1 can. My store had just 1 can too - so the guy gave me 1/2 off. It will probably take me years to use just the 1 can.

I ,too, went to West Marine yesterday and they only had two cans of Liquid Rollers, but they were on the floor near the clothing section.

I also picked up some Startron. Thank you C-Brat (can't remember who) for mentioning the coupons. :thup

What do you use "liquid rollers" for? and where?

Bunk trailers.

I used it on mine but didn't really notice much difference other than the boat squeeks now when I pull it on the trailer. Maybe I'm not using enough?

I believe people have been using them to help their windows slide easier as well.

Flapbreaker, do you have any problems while using Liquid Rollers on your bunks with the bunks being too slippery, especially while traveling on the road? It would be nice to have some slip to the bunks but too much might be troublesome.

Which one did you go to? I was at the one on Davis and was going to get the 2:1 but forgot to look for it. I did notice that several items that I have priced at the south store were priced higher at the Davis store.

We went into West Marine, Redding, CA today for the Liquid Roller, and "sure nuff" they had "one can" - come back Thurs, bring receipt and get 2nd "free" can. That's 40 mi each way! Just for that - when we go in - we'll take any other cupons I can find that fit our "buy later" list.

I went to all three West Marines in Jax today and finally the last store had 1 can. He said I could comeback for the second can and I suggested just give me it for half price and he did. The salesman at the first store told me the reason they didn't have any was it had been recalled by the manufacturer several months ago. He didn't say or no why the recall. It was $13.99 a can here in Jax.

Unbelievable--almost all stores only have one can--of the two for one.
Our store handled it by charging me 6.99 for one can and 7.00 for the other can (the one I pick up later).

We use it on the CD 25 bunks--it does make quite a difference for the "drive on"--and easy launch in shoaler waters where we have to power off. We also keep the window edges "lubricated" with this, as well as washing out these grooves regularly.

I think it was recalled because 45 minutes after putting it on stuff, it caught on fire, had lead paint in it and the airbag inflated unexpectedly!

I bought a 70 pound anvil from Northern Tool for $44.99 just because I wanted to see if they really shipped it for nothing. They did!!!!!

Anyone want an anvil? Shipping extra of course!

Charlie-

What you need to do with that anvil is FIRE IT OFF.

Wow Joe! I guess you need two of them for that though. Wonder if they'd ship me a second one for free... That would go along with my potato gun! A neighbor in Maine built a cantaloupe gun out of 6" PVC and could shoot one of those suckers about 500 yards out over the bay! Hairspray was the propellent there....

I really do need to get out on the boat but it's winterized on the lift. Gonna dewinterize it in a couple of weeks though, haul it and start installing all the electronics that are filling up my garage and put in the AC unit!

I got plenty to do watching our house get built about 100feet from the garage/apt. About 85% done now, hope to be in by mid-March...

No problem with the boat moving. Infact I could back down a boat ramp without anything holding the boat on and it still woudn't come off. I actually was hoping for more slip than it provided but maybe I needed more applications? The trouble is the trailer needs to be dry when you apply it. I had moored my boat one summer so I had the opportunity to use it then. Now it's on the trailer unless I launch it so I have not been able to add more.

I stopped by West Marine at Shilshole Marina in Seattle today to see about the liquid rollers. The nice salesman said it is a new product for them and won't be in the store for two weeks or so. That will be after the coupon expires. :thdown

The salesman was helpful and located another coupon item, dock lines, at another store and reserved some for me. :thup

Larry that salesman was pulling your leg--they have had the Liquid rollers in the stores (at least in the catalogue) for over 3 years...(but it was more expensive then!).

I got my second bottle, of course the salesman had to play with me, and said that they had already sold it...I don't know if they got any more "stock"--or just one more can. The anchor came in also. It looks to have considerably more fluke area than the 22 lb Delta, and there is not much difference in fluke size between the 25 and 35 lb Manson. A lot of the weight is in the shank--where it does not really help the holding. I would compare the surface area with the 15 lb Manson and 22 lb Delta. Thus a lighter Manson may suffice. (No I am not going to buy a smaller Manson to test that out).

Bob,

Salesmen!!!?!?

I just checked the West Marine online site and the SKU # is there but there is NO stock and in-warehouse date is 2-28, coupon expires 2-24.

I think if this is not a screwup then it is an advertising scam to get people into the stores.

My opinion of WM has not gone up, it remains very low.

Larry, I went to the Seattle store (off Mercer) on Wednesday. The salesman took my coupon, attached it to a backorder form, and told me he'd call me when the stock arrives so that I could get the 2-fer-1 on Liquid Rollers. That's cool, I'm in no rush.

Peter

West Marine has had Liquid Rollers for many years. I used it for years on my Boston Whaler on a bunk trailer, and I haven't had that boat for 4 years. I bought my supply at West Marine. If it is applied to the bunks when they are not wet, and left to dry in the sun, the bunks are so slick the Whaler would slide off as if it was actually on rollers! I thought it was better than sliced bread the first time I used it. I'll try my can on the C-Dory windows.
