Visting the Northwest

I don't think we will be out there much before August 2016. Oct.2nd in the evening after my last day of work we are heading for Norfolk, Va. and want to do the Carolina loop and back up thru the Dismal Swamp. We will probably finish out the season on the Chesapeake Bay. Florida in late Feb and March. Then in July I think I'll head out for the Northwest. God willing and if the creek don't rise. Thanks again for the warm reception and all of your thoughtful suggestions.

hey Dave, Head out just a little earlier, there is a pretty great CBGT in Friday Harbor in May and the good cruising starts before all the crowds hit.

Good to be planning ahead :clock

Thanks to all who shared their knowledge. We left our home in Pa July 15th. We had a wedding to attend in Jackson WY. August 1st we launched the boat in Bellingham. We headed for Friday Harbor then swung into Roche Harbor and on to a mooring ball in Bedwell Harbor. Then on to Nanaimo, then Comox where we met Martin and is lovely wife Andrea. Then over to Powell river. Dinner with Ron and Anne Baker while we were there;great people. Then we had some time before the Powell River gathering so we headed up thru Desolation Sound to Toba inlet and back down to Refuge Cove and then up to Teakerne Arm to see the waterfall where the C-Dory was pictured in the Waggoner Cruising guide. Then down to Okeover Inlet. Then back over to Lund. Then the gathering at Powell river (which was better than great} Then Sleepy-C, C-Gypsy, and CC Rider headed towards Princess Louisa. We anchored out in Blind Bay then went up to Egmont and then on to Princess Louisa. Overnighted on the dock near Chatterbox Falls and in the morning we headed back down to Egmont. Then a rough ride across the Strait of Georgia back to Nanaimo. We headed for Ganges and spent a couple days there and rented a car. We headed to Sidney next and stayed a couple days. We headed down to Tod Inlet and anchored there and dinghied into Butchart Gardens. Then we headed back up to Cowitchan Bay and then Maple Bay. Next to Roche Harbor to check back into the U.S.A. and on to Bellingham. We then wondered down past La Connor and then Oak Harbor to Seattle for a couple days. Back to Oak Harbor and spent three days in Anacortes. Then back to Friday Harbor. Tomorrow we will head back to Roche Harbor for a Ranger get together. We will head back to Bellingham on Sunday and put the boat on the trailer and head for Lake Powell for a few days before heading home. It's been a great trip and I have to thank everyone who has provided advice and information to make this trip something to remember. Met lots of really great people along the way. We about wore out our Waggoner cruising guide. It looks like it's ten years old. I pushed my comfort zones this trip. Thanks to all the people that shared their time, friendship, and great information.

It was good to see this thread come back around. I'm glad you had a great trip. Looks like you hit many of the local and semi-local highlights. The PacNW is a great place to boat and an even better place to live.

Fantastic! Sounds like you did it up right! :thup :thup

The Ranger Tug gathering is first class - enjoy!

We just wrapped up our season in the San Juans and are gearing up for some land cruising. This place has a very strong draw - I'm guessing you'll be back. :D

Best wishes,
Jim
