Value of 2005 Tom Cat 24?

I have checked the sales and listings for the last 6 years. But there is not a record of a recent sale of a Tom Cat 24. (A dealer may have sold one with some questionable engines about 18 months ago--and I didn't check that. Sale prices have run form $45,000 to somewhere in the low 60's.
Some 255's have sold in the low 60's--so i think that the numbers are lower than that today.

What does the group think that a Tom Cat 24 with 115's and minimal gear should sell for in todays market? The boat is clean, with very low hours and good care.

I am asking for a friend who is interested in buying one down the line. I have my own opinion, but want impartial input.

Regards,

Bob Austin

there was a resent sale here. I think jay in bellingham bought it. i just sold him a dinghy the other day but cant find his phone number . Dont know what he paid but that is the most resent sale I know of.

What year is the hull and motors? Who makes the motors, number of hours. Does it have carbs or FI? One owner or multiple? New or dated electronics? Is a trailer included? Stored in water or lift? Bottom paint? New or old batteries? What is the hull, deck and roof conditions?
Thanks for asking!

In Jan 2009, I looked at a 1999 24' TomCat w/Twin Yamaha 100's.. It was very clean. Asking price was $29,995 with a trailer

Wow! Bargain Basement Pricing!

C-Dory TC 24 for the price of a CD-22!

I'd have bought it to re-sell later! :smiled

I too am reluctant to believe that price on a nice well kept tomcat. I would love to buy one at anywhere near that price. However, I will totally admit that every now and then you get a desperate soul in a divorce or an estate sale that needs cash now. As we all know, they are rarities indeed.

I've actually been tempted to buy a C-Dory bargain listed on this site more than once for re-sale, but have declined, thinking that it would be unfair to those who are seeking a boat for themselves.

However, if the deal got really good, the altruistic self might just get out-voted by the profit motive wheeler dealer. The difficulty would be in facing the rest of the C-Brats with "dirty money" on your hands (!) (So to speak) :smileo

I remember the 24 Tomcat for $29.9k as the deal of the decade. Was looking for it in the list of transactions just last week, couldn't find it. Actually wanted to ask buyer if they are happy after a couple of years. Once I get health and disability issues sorted out, may be the boat for me.

I suspect that the $29,900 was the one with some question about one of the engines. I had also thought about buying it. I would have sliced it and then added 6" of tunnel height to see how much better the boat performed...esp at low speeds.

Those which have been in the listings I have seen and factored in. I didn't see it in the listings, but my recollection was that the boat had no trailer, was in Ft. Myers area, maybe at a dealers, and was bought by some folks in Texas???? I cannot find it in the list of Tom Cats, but I thought that the new owners did post at least one post saying that the engine worked out fine....

Thanks

Bob

yes, Penny and I bought a TC24 in December from Marc Grove at Wefings. I sent a PM to Bob with all the details. It's a nicely outfitted boat with twin Yamaha 115s with about 450 hours. But, we did not buy it for anything close to $29k. In fact it pains me to see that price associated with any tomcat.

Good detective work guys! At least I was right about the Ft. Meyers area.
Chris does not post often, but he is still active on the list--and got the all time best by on a Tom Cat--or maybe any C Dory....

Hi guys.............yes I am the lucky one that got the 24' TomCat in Ft. Myers. I saw it at a boat show and when I seen the price I put a down payment on it right on the spot. I spent 5 years looking for one and I love the one I got. No engine problems, a great boat and the wait was worth it. In fact I finially got around to changing the name just last week to "ARGO" which is what all our boats have been named. I got to tell you it was kinda fun reading what a great deal everyone thinks I got. Oh ya it had a trailer to. :thup

Despite the spaceship look I've always kind of wanted one and have an idea that they are old enough now that the prices may be possible for us common folk. The 29.9K story is astounding.

I still need to comb the forums for insider info and see what the scoop is on handling and performance etc. I haven't seen one for sale in AK for 3-4 years but keep an eye out.
