Thought this V-Lock gadget is a good idea and might be of interest to some out there.

It is best viewed on the following web site----

www.v-lock.com

It has many uses around the boat.

When I saw these, I thought what a great idea and design. I bookmarked his site for future reference and ordering. I can think of many uses for them on the Marinaut.

Dave, I would be interested in your ideas -- I might get some inspiration for uses I have not thought of!

Good to see you at the Larkspur.

I believe the developer of this device offered a discount to Brats. Hunt around for his contact info.

Warren – at the CBGT I talked to Roger (SeaDNA) about possibilities of a Live Bait Well for the Marinaut. He came up with a good idea for one to fit in the engine well. I liked it so much I am designing a portable 10 gallon live bait well to fit in the engine well. If it works, I will use the V-Locks to secure it in the engine well. They could also be used for many of the typical items listed on the V-Lock site when the bait well is not in use.

I sent Mike at V-Lock an email this morning requesting the dimensions of the V-Lock and have already received an answer. He even knew I had posted a comment on this thread. I think they are a going to be a good company to do business with and I hope the C-Brats support him. V-Lock’s customer service is what we as C-Brats would like to have from a company.

Dave, without customer service you might as well hang it up or work for Microsoft. :)

I stand by this product and in a little over a year have only had one complaint on a failed pull-pin, which I replaced at no charge.

Thanks again for your support.

I spoke to Mike at V-Lock about using the mount for a pot puller.

He answered my questions and I placed an order, and I did get the 10% off.

Did you happen to ask about using one for a downrigger also?

Hello C-Brats, here on the forum and at boat shows people have asked many times about getting a V-Lock in plastic. Well I finally got it worked out and not just plastic but marine grade starboard.

There is a flat starboard insert but the aluminum inserts are 100% compatible.

Let me know what you think.

Wondering what reason(s) folks gave for wanting the V-lock in plastic?

Thanks,

Mike – they look good and will often times look better on the boat. How is the strength of the starboard verses the aluminum?

Dave, I haven't tested them yet as I just got them in. I imagine it depends on if you are using the starboard insert or the aluminum one.

I would probably guess that the starboard would not be as strong but by how much I do not know.

I have yet to have anyone tell me they have broken an alimunum one.

Warren, some people worried about corrosion, some for weight and some for appearance.

Can you provide some of his input? I'm interested in the same use, being that the 25 has rails surrounding the cockpit.

My use is to mount a Brutus pot puller on the side my Livingston dingy. The Brutus can lift 100lbs and the pulley/lever arm is about 2 ft.

Mike said V-Lock mounts are used for downriggers, that no one has broken one yet, and that a 200lb guy stood on the 90 degree insert with no damage. I tried my best to bend one with my hands with no movement evident.

I have the unit now (shipped fast-got it in 3 days) and I think there will be a higher chance of the dingy fiberglass failing than the V-Lock.

Best bet is to call Mike and discuss your proposed use.
