I have the short shaft Bob. I have seen reference to a longshaft 2.5 but I think it is only available in other markets.
The transom on the kaboat is quite short so the rise of that block above the transom lines the cavitation plate of the 2.5 up with the bottom edge of the Kaboat hull for nice alignment. The Torqeedo still protrudes further downward of course. I initially planned to put the bracket higher but at one time I had simply set the motor and insert on the transom resting on that wood block and the great alignment caught my eye so I mounted it that way. The wood clamp block resting on the transom top adds a little additional stability to the mount as an added bonus. The rise is between 3-4 inches and puts the motor at a good height on the C-dory as well. Those height factors along with motor trim, were easy to plan based on available dimensions, but until I actually had the motor in hand, I couldn't be sure of the final alignment. I was able to find a single trim position that also works for both boats thanks to the 15 degree mount block on the C-dory.
I was very tempted to mount the bracket to the swim step using the 90 degree insert but then I would have to spin clamps again to move it to the dinghy although the reach would be easier.
