Unusual C22 roof rack

This rig was parked on Hwy 20 in Anacortes (the road to the San Juan ferry). No name, so no idea who owns it, but took this snap with my iPhone to share with you. It is kind of hard to see, but there is a tubular rack mounted in the cockpit -- not sure how far forward it goes -- and a basket mounted on top of the cockpit portion of the rack, in addition to the FG box mounted on the cabintop.

Warren, Thanks for posting that.

I like it. Hope to get a closer look some day. SleepyC has an aft arch(type) in the works, from the splashwell up, for a dingy support. A work still in progress.

Now if you pop the lid to that roof top box off and put the kicker on it, you might get a gofast tender for the 22

I am curious if anyone has thoughts about how a cargo box on the roof would impact the ride of a CD22 or be a safety concern, causing excess rocking/ rolling.

We often travel with our dinghy rolled upon the starboard side of the roof, on top of a custom rack the previous owner installed. We are contemplating installing a similar cargo box on the port side to store scuba gear (probably 30-40 lbs of stuff- wet suits, fins, etc) to free up space in the cockpit.

I have not noticed a big difference with the dinghy up there, but wonder about adding a cargo box since it will add weight and surface area.

Thanks
Tim

The more weight on the roof, the more roll and less stavbility your will have. The 22 is already a boat sensitive to weight distribution due to narrow beam waterline--as any semi dory is.

Looks like it would be very handy for those who boat to their favorite xc-skiing area. If used for fishing poles, I think I would opt for the more traditional rocket launcher setup. Don't mean to be offensive, just seems to me that it would look more natural on top of a Subaru. Traditionalist I am.
