Ugliest boat afloat ?

We first saw this boat in 2003 anchored in Winter Cove. With it's deteriorating cement hull, I had no idea it would still be afloat in 2007 when some Brats anchored there last year. The transom has re-bar showing!
Roger you beat me to it! Its still there and still floating! Just admired it when we anchored there on our way back for The Friday Harbor CBGT.

Where's a U.S. Navy Seals Demolition Team when you need one?

I'll bet the local home/land owners would gladly pay to have this baby towed out to sea and made into something functional, like a rockfish reef!

I did not know that Byrdman kept a boat on Shasta!

Now that's funny! I don't care what kind of dog you got, that's funny right there.

Joe,

You're right on. That boat, and a few others we've seen, has
ARTIFICIAL REEF written all over it! But maybe somebody loves it.

I'm not sure if this could be called the ugliest boat afloat but it's a contender for the ugliest C-Dory afloat. This boat was a few slips down from us last summer in Harris Harbor, Juneau, Alaska. I spoke with the owner and he said at one time he had used it to fish halibut comercially. As I recall it was for sale for around 15K.

That's what I always loved about this site, how much better we are than everybody else!
Mike

How about that smokestack? Makes you wonder if it has been used as a cookhouse for a meth lab!

Quick, somebody get a spray can and paint over the "C-Dory" logo! Don't want to claim it as part of the CD Nation.

That inflatable looks like it wouldn't cross the harbor safely. Looks like it was found washed up on a beach somewhere.

Who'd be willing to pay moorage fees on this dreadful eyeful?

R.I.P. our fallen friend!

Joe.

One weeks cleanup and washing, removal of the stove and liferaft, a little epoxy work and two-part epoxy white paint. Voila! Who would have known. Did that on a 14 ft trashed (core soaked) Boston Whaler and people thought it was new. Everyone has a bad day but can recover. Zelpha

Oh what stories I bet Thistle II could tell....

Better to be a well used boat, then an ignored boat. Thistle II looks like she led quite the life in her day.

Restored small Boston Whaler was named "CHOPA", a small Florida Gulf Coast inland waters piling fish that probably only "Thataway" would recognize. Had to go to the Monteray Aquarium (CA) and find a scientist to recognize the fish on the west coast. Looks like a fresh water brim. Very common in Pensacola Bay.

Resurrecting this timeless (or time-less) thread for a new contestant:

Mark of Mighty Byte found this Utilitarian Gem up in Valdez, Alaska for our ongoing contest:

Luxury marine living (Take 2) for, Uh.... the most interesting man in the world?
Don't laugh, it's got a back door for speedy decampment.

Not exactly a Honeymoon Chalet on Bora Bora, but might be OK for a Crash Pad for a Yukon Gold Miner working the River.
Kinda reminds me of all those floating boat sheds you see in the PNW marinas.

And what's that loft height entry in the first photo for? Exit to dock height when the tides out?

So what do you have for our latest installment in the Ugliest Boat Afloat Contest???

Looks to me like a flying bridge!! Isn't that a steering wheel up there??

Robert-

Yes, I think you're right!

I didn't notice the steering wheel, etc.

Good eye!

Next question: How do you get up there?

Drop/swing down ladder on the under side of the platform?

Door under console?

Funny!

Joe. :teeth :thup

Indeed, the steering wheel and controls are on that elevated platform at the top of the roofline at back of the boat. I only imagine how the linkage for the steering and controls must be jerry-rigged to tie everything together with the "twin" engines. Must be close to 10 feet from the bottom of the actual "cabin" (LOL) to the steering wheel/controls. At any rate this rare find caught my attention and I felt it would be appreciated by this group of refined knowledgable marine aficionados. Thanks to Joe's expertise in moving the pics from my album to this thread.

Realizing the appeal that the fine craftsmanship and engineering of this unique vessel will have on this discerning group of true mariners, I would be open to contacting the owner for availability and price, should anyone feel compelled to upgrade.

I dont know, I think it looks kinda cool in a mad max kinda way. ready for zombie Apocalypse.

Kind of a seagoing "rat rod"? Wonder what kind of stove/heater that Charlie noble was hooked up to? Obviously some kind of solid-fuel one??
She looks welled used and put away wet!
