There is an older C-22 for sale local (Long Beach California) that has a less than 20 hours like new Evinrude 60 HP Etec. Where can you not use this boat/motor combination. Went online and there was more confusion than fact. Thanks for the replies.

The new direct injected two cycle outboards are as clean as any four cycle engine. There were a few jurisdictions that were late recognizing this. As far as I know they are now exempt from the all restrictions on the old dirty ones.

The Etecs can be used in Calif. and all states. They meet emissions rules. However, a 60 hp Etec on a 22 C Dory will be under powered. If you want to go very low planing speeds--and be pushing that motor, you might get 17 knots top speed (give or take). But the engine will be happiest pushing at 6 to 7 knots--and if you go much faster it will not be an effecient combination. The price is good--because most likely you will have to repower--and the demand for a used 60 hp Etec is very low.

You are certainly right about not enough HP - that is why the asking price is so low. Just have to keep looking. We are reluctant to buy a new truck just to haul a boat that our current Tundra will not pull. We have a little HiLo 18' travel trailer that is about 4000lbs all up and you do not even know it is behind the truck. It has two axes with brakes and I use a P3 controller, the rig stops on a dime and we get 14+ MPG at 60MMPH.

So why would you have to buy a new truck to haul a CD-22 @ 3500-4500 lbs?

Joe. :teeth :thup

We are fine with a 22 but we have an '06 Tundra and their max tow weight is 7000 pounds with what we carry in the bed, too close for comfort for me with the 25, fuel and all the camping gear.
