Totally Off Topic

Wow, Death Valley was great, but there were a lot of canyons/roads closed due to flooding. In fact, we were rained out. There should be a fantastic wildflower bloom this year. What a great place!!!!!

This is from Zabriskie Point, just above Furnace Creek. Looking west across the valley to the Panamint Mountains.

Magnificant photos. Thanks for sharing! I am sorry that I missed the thread when we were in S. Florida.

We went to Death Valley at least two spring vacations with the Senior Patrol Leaders/Junior Assistant Scout Masters of the Boy Scouts, in the very early 1950's. There were two routes we traveled in: one was via Calif. 178 thru Emigrant Canyon, to Charcoal Kilims and then to the valley floor from the West. The other was through Shoshone, Thru Death Valley Junction, then up to Betty, Rhyolite, and Titus Canyon. There used to be some really spetacular ruins there. I still have some black and white photos of this area somewhere. We were in a 2 ton truck and it was a challange many times.

Scorpions Fluorescence a bright green. We had UV lights since one of the leaders was building a fireplace which was to be UV light.

Truly a great place.
 
Beautiful picture. I'm sorry we missed this forum the first time, too. I would have told you to say hello to my son who lives and works and Furnace Creek Ranch. Because he is there we have had the great pleasure of visiting twice, both times in November. There are so many great places to visit. We are anxious to go back again because we still haven't seen it all.

My son spent a week worrying about the weather there in January. He was giving me daily updates since the power went out several times. It doesn't take much to wash out roads there. It is all so beautiful and extreme.
