Tomcat 255

Charlie description, but I am confused by "Then I turn on hot and cold water and run the water tank totally dry (mine is on the port side BTW)"

On Thataway, the water tank, and the hot water heater were both on the Starboard side as I recollect. The water heater under the helm seat, and the water tank below the floor boards of the hull. I sent along a second tank, which could be put on the port side, but was never installed.

Sorry I didn't see this earlier, I was busy getting a year older on Monday!! Bob, I'm pretty sure I saw the tank on the port side, have looked into the drain pump/box for the shower and water heater drain under the galley and thought I looked forward and saw an empty hull on the Stbd side. I'll check again. Makes no never mind, it is where it is, I'm not gonna move it... :crook I've still got that other tank, considering other uses, such as the first wine tank on a TomCat... Not sure whether I need different pumps for white and red or whether I can use the same pump. At least I wouldn't have to winterize that system... :D

Charlie:
I think Bob is correct for the 2006 TC. However, the manual you forwarded me says the tank is on port side.
Must have changed things without updating the manual. I don't doubt that your tank is where you say.
Must have changed things midstream. Thanks for the winterizing things I missed,
such as the macerators in the fish wells and the pumps in the bilges.
I took care of them after you post. Thanks.

Charlie;
Thanks for the info. I do have a propane torch with a hose attachment and an 1800W heat gun, so that should not be an issue later.

I'm still trying to see how/where to set a diverter valve to flush the water cooled air conditioner's plumbing within the 'step box', going into the cabin of the CD25. I'd like to have a minimum impact on the plumbing setup. I suspect it would be best to insert it after the raw water pump. If it works I could run the a/c while on the work rack using city water. 8)

I had looked into what is necessary to cut out the flooring on the port side to put in the spare tank. Yes, the tanks were changed from Starboard (where it is on Thataway) to the port side in 2007. I had ordered two tanks and paid for two tanks to be installed., After the boat was built the informed me that "we aren't putting in two tanks any more". Because of that and other build errors, I came close to canceling the order on the boat...

Bob, thanks. I don't blame you for almost cancelling the order. But in my case, I have two tanks.
I fill them both and there are switches on the helm to select either. Are the port and starboard tanks dedicated
to the port and starboard engines? If I leave them off, the Honda instruments seam to indicate equal
remaining fuel. I have so much to learn about this boat, as well as discovering her previous owners mods.
She's named Lucky Enough if you care to do a site search to learn as much as I have been able to.
If you can offer any insights, I would be much appreciative. email me.
Thanks.

@C - the tank discussion above was about water tanks but you appear to discussing the fuel tanks. All the TC255 have two fuel tanks. How they are connected to the engines depends on who did the rigging (often a dealer) and hence can vary from boat to boat. On my TC they were originally rigged so that each tank fed the engine on the corresponding side. The fuel gauge on my boat reads only one tank at a time and the tank that it is reading is selected by a switch on the dash that reads port and starboard.

Since I bought the boat, I had it re-rigged so that there's a cross over valve between the two tanks and a valve to each tank. Hence, I can now set it up so that either engine can draw off of either or both tanks.

@C, Bill, just realized who you were! You had looked at CAPTAINS CAT before I sold it but you had to sell another boat first. Glad you found a TC!

Bob, I may be thinking about my first TC, guess its possible that they built hull#16 different than hull#39 in 2006. That would explain the Stbd list I had on CAPTAINS CAT. THATAWAY doesn't have one... :thup
