thoughts on the ancestery of this sailboat.

We had a Com-Pac catboat for a while - nice boat; very well made. We visited the Hutchins factory in Florida and were surprised to learn that they farm out their fiberglass work. The word we heard is that it is Island Packet that makes their hulls.

They made a 23 sloop for a long time... I take it that you are referring to the new Pilothouse 23 (a sailboat that would likely appeal to those of us on this forum who know and appreciate the value of a pilothouse).

Seems more akin to the small Nimble pilothouse boats (Arctic and Kodiak) that our boats.

These are very nice boats. First time I've seen the pilot house version. Myself? I'd probably tell them to leave off the sails and masts. I'd just use it as a very nice power boat. I owned a Gulf 32 motor sailer with a pilot house. It was just too cumbersome to deal with the pilot house sitting up so high and deal with sail management. I only sailed it a few times, but put many hours on the atomic 4 diesel. Made a great power boat. I do like the looks of the 23 pilot house though. And the accommodations do look very nice. Nicely finished as well.
