THE TOMCAT GETS A BOBCAT BUDDY!

Sally and I drove down to Brunswick GA this weekend to pick up her new boat, a Bolger Bobcat (12'3" loa). It's a little gaff rigged catboat that will permit her to single hand in our creek, the river and the bay. Pretty little thing, will be housed on a single arm lift right at the bow of the Tomcat boat house. Have not launched it yet, supposed to be 101degrees here today and we're not going to venture out! Have a bunch of construction photos too if anyone is interested. It's marine plywood fiberglassed. Spruce spars and has an electric outboard to get her away from the pier of the wind is blowing the wrong way!

Long trip but well worth it! One more photo in my album with the sail stowed.

We were in Brunswick/St. Simon's for the last eleven years of my career; nice place.

Returned last week from two weeks on Arey's Pond, South Orleans MA, home of Arey's Pond Boat Yard.

APBY is manufacturer and repair facility for wooden boats -- mostly cat boats.

The Bob Cat would be right at home moored in the pond or tied to our friend's dock. My wife was jealous when I showed her the pic of your new boat!

Don, you assume correctly, thanks. I didn't pay that much though. I got a DVD with in process construction photos from the builder too, he did a good job. Want to get her in the water but it was over 100deg here today, too hot to do anything outside except have a :beer or two...

It's a nice little boat and it'll be nice to see the two "Cats" together! just before we left, Sally took in two 4 week old kittens :cat :cat that had to go to Georga with us to be fed every 4 hours. An interesting trip, our two existing kitties :cat :cat may forgive us in time and the dog :dog is just fascinated!

Neat boat, Charlie! :thup As you know, I am a fan of catboats (had a SunCat). One of the last events we did with the catboat was a race series with winds gusting to 30 mph... there was a BobCat that raced with us, and I was quite impressed with how that small boat handled the conditions. There is a catboat forum on the trailersailor site...

Looks like a fun boat, to be sure!

But "whimping out" in only 100 degree heat! (I know, it' the humidity!)

I'll deny that to my dying day cause it could get me killed, or at least very damaged! You've met her, I'll tell her you said that and she can confront you at SBS 10! :lol:

And yes, with her sailing ability, it would probably embarass me! After all, she learned to sail when she was eight years old, about 30 years ago. (or so) :disgust
