The Newest C-Dory Model to debut at Tacoma Dome Boat Show

This is an exerpt of the press release that will go out tomorrow, the day befor Tacom Dome opens, concerning the new C-Dory Special 4109 model, available on the 16 Cruiser and Angler and being show at Tacoma Dome - I wanted you guys to get a sneak preview:


Kitsap Marina announced today that they would be debuting the newest C-Dory model at the Tacoma Dome Boat Show. Based on the popular 16' models built be C-Dory, the new model would be available for viewing all during the show.

The special model "4109" will be available as either a Cruiser or an Angler, and according to General Manager Orrin Nelson the purpose of the new boat is to give added flexibility, economy and slow speed handling.

"We wanted to be able to achieve hull speed efficiently, as well as mid range speeds. With variable displacement power, we have the option to run at various speeds." Nelson said.

Sales Manager Matt Gurnsey was excited by the ease of docking. "If there is a downside to the small C-Dory product, it may be it's shallow draft, which can allow cross winds to make docking a challenge. With the Wide Track engine placement, and aggressive four blade props, this boat will be much better handling in tight corners."

"The 4109 is the boat of today, with features never found in a small boat before." Nelson added. "The 4 x 4 drive train is a departure from the norm, but we think that it has tremendous potential."

The Tacoma Dome Boat Sale runs April 2 through 5.

So for those of use who don't go to this boat show--is this a 16 with twin outboards and bow and stern thrusters--or just two electric trolling motors?
 
Does'nt it just figure. Got a brand new 16C at home for less than 3 weeks and it is already obsolete! My guess is twin outboard with four-blade props somehow equates to 4x4. Not sure about stern weight but it sure looks cool. We put a permatrim on ours, helped some with low speed maneuvering. The rest will have to come with time behind the wheel.

Does this boat have twin Suzuki 25's? Any other changes from the standard 16? I assume the idea is that you can run the boat on a single 25 for slow speed operation to save fuel. Is running on a single 25 at slow speeds significantly more efficient at displacement speeds than a 9.9 kicker would be? Good luck at the show.

Now you've got a classic 16 and it's worth more. :D
 
Had me there for a minute, thought they might have put a 25 foot stretch into the 16, (sort of taking up where Old Growth Dave left off), :wink Would definitely give more directional stability :roll:

Well, by my calendar, today is March 31st, not April 1st! When we have to think about repowering Crabby Lou, why not twin 25s with four-blade props? Is the whole idea so April-foolish? (Even though the Model 4-1-09 would suggest that!)
 
I'd actually thought about this as a possible re-power option on a used 16 a while back. I've had to emergently travel a long ways on a kicker before (across Rosario Strait during a big tide change with wind) and at that time became a fan of twin engines; I could barely make headway against the wind and current and the trip took forever. I think what curtailed my inquiry for the CD 16 was the weight issue TGW the fact that I couldn't find a 20/25 with power trim and tilt. Maybe something's changed with technology. I know Suzuki is going through their line and decreasing engine weight at some horsepower levels. Or...maybe I'm an "April Fool". Best, Mike.
 
Well I had my hopes up for a while, but he's been hanging around "Byrdman" entirely too much, so I held off screaming "Yahoooooo" and booking a flight to SeaTac 'till the dust settled.

So I get up this morning and my boat has lost its' Collectors Value overnight? I was going to trade it straight across for a new 22 Cruiser!
 
Indeed, a slight whiff of April comes to mind.
The picture appears to show a third motor hinting at a fourth.
4X4 to mean 4 motors with 4 blade props. :roll:

With this configuration you wouldn’t need a wheel in the wheelhouse; the 4 motors could be mounted stationery. At the helm 4 motor controls tied into a multifunction joy stick.
