Jim and Joan-I was thinking about you guys this morning. I was sitting at the Ford dealer waiting for them to do the recall stuff and also hunt down and kill the mouse living in the engine compartment. On the big CNN screen they showed the weather heading to Brownsville. Hope your homebase dodged this storm. It's good to know that if you do get wet you've got some extra towels. :roll:

My retired life could be boring if I couldn't drop by the computer several times a day and catch up on your adventures. I'm right now without a boat.
Selling every toy Pat will let me to come up with eigher a 19' or 22' cruiser. Lake Tahoe is beautiful this time of year. Don't ask me how the fishing is because I DON'T HAVE A BOAT 
Using my friends 18' Grady-White just wouldn't be the same.
You and Joan continue to be safe.

Now you all have me thinking of a winter cruise to Cabo...(Incidently, most of the cruisers go to the Mainland of Mexico and out of the Sea of Cortez during the cooler months. We have found that in Jan and Feb there are not many larger boat in the Sea of Cortez--and it is excellent cruising!

Marty - Yep, there's been plenty of rain at home lately. Fortunately, since we live on an island, the water has some place to go. :wink: Thanks for reminding me about the towel... I was getting a bit rusty on humiliation.

I'm sailing out of San Francisco Bay Oct.15 to be at Cabo around Nov. 15.
From there we are going to mainland and check out the weather for a couple of months. I'll let you guys know. Then next Fall we can get a C-Dory Baha Cruise together.

Kayak, day two... I only got wet when I intended to. 
Forgive my dangling participle, and no, Pat, that has nothing to do with bleaching anything. :wink:
I'm thinking the kayak will be a good addition to Wild Blue. Good exercise and I'll enjoy seeing where I'm going while paddling (as opposed to rowing a dinghy). There are often times when a dinghy is best (like making a grocery run or when you have a long ways to go and want to cover it quickly - with a motor), but I can see plenty of times when the kayak will be just right. And easy to toss in the vehicle when we're land traveling.
I practiced getting back in (without rolling), rotating, turning, stopping... not much room to practice long distance power strokes in the kids' pool. 8) I'll be ready to run this up and down the canals when we get home... when we're not running Wild Blue, that is.

Our daughter lives in an area that has a lot of silly rules... like: no boat/RV parking anywhere that can be seen from the street. I suggested that we could knock down a wall, run Wild Blue into their pool, and no one would know. I could tell by the tight lips that she didn't think it was a good idea. Perhaps the final straw was when I asked her what their "pumping sewage overboard" policy was in the pool? :twisted: She was no less enthralled when I told her we could knock the wheels off the RV and put it up on blocks in her driveway... "Hell, we could put some skirting around it and it wouldn't be an RV anymore. We could tell your owners' association anal-retentives to kiss my bleached butt." 8)
So, Charlie, Wild Blue has to stay in storage for a week or so. :roll:

Some owners' associations get pretty testy, don't they? On a MC trip we visited a friend in a small community; she said she'd have the garage door open for us. We drove into the garage on the Gold Wing and then knocked on her door. She was surprised, and said she didn't hear us come in! She closed the garage door pretty quick. Turns out (we didn't know), the community prohibited motorcycles, but she didn't want to tell us not to come.
One can never be sure if they are trying to limit the noise, the kids running around on dirt bikes, or the Hell's Angels. And then they allow ATV's, and in the winter, snowmobiles. Go figure.
OTOH, not too far from our house are some people that park their extra car on the grass in the middle of their front yard. So I guess those CC&R's can be pretty helpful in a lot of cases.
A local radio station has a 'whiner line'. Someone called in to complain about one of the announcers, concluding his rant with, "Oh, by the way, your house has a flat tire."

Left Phoenix today, heading south and east... a "three state" travel day, across Arizona, New Mexico, and 140 miles into Texas. We're just under half way home. :disgust
Pretty much all we did today was drive, talk, and listen to satellite radio. On the bright side, we saw Frequent Sea, Bob and Marie's CD-25. They were heading west on I-25 in New Mexico as we were heading east. Had we known, we would have made arrangements to meet somewhere for ice cream. We flashed lights and waved, don't know if they saw us.
We are in beautiful, scenic Van Horn, TX tonight. Lost two hours (according to the clock, thanks to the time zones) today; rolled into an RV park around 9:00 pm. Drinks, snacks, my 'net fix, and bed... it was a long day (just over 600 miles).
Looks like we're about 2 days from home.

Sorry, I lost my head there. Must be all the dust blowing in scenic Van Horn. Ahem... no, Dave, we did not leave the boat in Phoenix. The lovely Wild Blue is right behind Big Red. In fact, she is our RV while on the road back home. Like me, she is anxious to get back in the water. We should be home on Wednesday; Wild Blue will be back in the water within 24 hours of our arrival home.
On the road again... I just can't wait to get on the road again... everybody sing!

PS - It did sprinkle about 100 drops during the middle of the night, so instead of blowing dust, we now have a muddy truck and boat... so I got that going for me. :disgust

And be it ever so humble, we are now home... as in: at the house in Texas. It was about an 800 mile day today. Wild Blue and Big Red are champs. Both are covered in bugs, but will be looking good as new as soon as we get moved back into the non-floating home.
It's been over 5 months since we've been here... we kinda missed the place.
We're beat, so I'll be wrapping this up for now.
