No damage that we can tell. This certainly wasn't a powerboat vs sailboat mentality kind of thing. There are a lot of jerks out there... the guy's arrogant attitude ticked me off as much as anything. Joan, in her wisdom, has said to let it drop. I will, but I still think the guy is a world-class jerk.
 
I suggest you write a letter to the Bellingham paper. You write well, and bad PR would be anathema to a guy like that. Glad Wild Blue came through unscathed.

Probably wouldn't do much good, Warren... it seems that this guy is on an advisory board for the Bellingham paper. Not my turf. And you know what they say about wrestling with a pig? You're both going to get muddy and the pig probably enjoys it. :wink:

Well with the way he treated Jim and Joan, I'm guessing that he embarrasses himself in front of his peers on the board and editorial staff on a fairly frequent basis. I like the saying from Jim

Joan is always the voice of reason. I don't give a rat's rear about the arrogant bas... um, guy, but I don't want to look bad in my wife's eyes. This doesn't leave a big negative about the PNW or Bellingham for us... everyone else that we've met has been pretty darn delightful. That's a positive proportion. Everywhere you go you will find some people who think they're better than everyone else... we don't search them out. Every once in a while, they will find you, though. :wink:

Sounds to me like he's someone who needs his political clock cleaned even if it's with written word -- and YOU are exactly the person who can do that because you're great with the written word! GO GET 'EM! (Sorry Joan, but sometimes SOMEONE has to do SOMETHING to change a moron's ways!)

I guess that there are guys like that everywhere. We had a similar situation a number of years ago, but unbenown to me, one of my crew members slipped over the side during the night, and removed the offending boat's propeller (Oh he left it tied to the rudder along with the nuts and cotter key....) I thought that was a bit much--but it was sure good for a laugh--and I instructed my crew member not to do that in the future...
 
Dr. Bob, that cracks me up. Actually, I hope nothing happens to the guy's boat while we're here... Joan says I look guilty even when I'm not! 8) OK, I usually am.

Thanks all for your support on this situation. It's behind us... much like the part of the anatomy that reminds me of ol' Greg whats-his-name. Kirsch-choo... whoa, pardon me, I had to sneeze... needed to get that bad smell out of my nose.

Jim don't go around picking fights with the locals now....we know how you get when Joan is trying to make you load up Wild Blue for a trip home......so don't think getting thrown in jail in the great pnw is going to buy you more time...their jails down float up there, they are just like our jails....cold.

Dr. Bob, you don't have to worry about Jim pulling the same stunt that your crew member pulled off. He won't get into that cold water on a dare....110 degrees with bubbles is more his speed.

Please do post pictures of that offending boat ..... so we can keep a eye out for her when any of the brats are cruising the sound with armament.
 
For those of you who don't know my buddy, Mike... he's the kind of guy who enjoys egging you along. When you were kids, standing at the edge of a cliff... "Come on, I double-dog dare you to jump." When you were in junior high... "Come on, run through the girls' locker room with your jockstrap on your head - it'll be funny." Out of school... "Hey, I'll bet you can't drink that whole 12 pack in less than 5 minutes. Come on, I'll hold your coat while you try." Yeah, that guy. :lol:

Yep, rollin', rollin', rollin'...

We loaded Wild Blue on the trailer this morning; washed her down, flushed the motor, and headed south.

We picked our time, and it worked out... planned to head out after the morning rush (left at 10:00) when all the holiday weekenders would be on the road. It worked - we had very little traffic as we made our way down I-5, around the bypass, and onto I-90. LOTS of traffic coming north, out of Seattle.

We tried for a campground for the night, but they were full, so we are in the parking lot of a casino... the only boat amongst the many RVs. I'll be trying to keep Joan out of the casino so we don't lose our gas money for the way home. :wink:

It got to 84º today... I was a bit rusty on sweating; not sure I remembered how to do it. We haven't seen 80+ degrees since we were in Desolation Sound.

Can't wait to get you back to Utah. We promise a no-fee, secure campground with free showers--don't even need to wear shower shoes. No one will attempt to dock next to you in the dark. Plenty of fresh grass for Mollie to chew on. Temp. here is high 80's with rain today. Wine is on chilling. See you soon.

We're looking forward to seeing you two. We know that Camp B&D is an upscale place... almost as fancy as the Camp Wal-Mart that we are settling into here in Idaho. We've been down less than 5 minutes and already two pickups have stopped to check out the "new boat in town." :wink:

Joan has taken to calling this part of our trip the Idaho Wal-Mart Trail. We stopped at the WM in Mountain Home to change out a tire on the trailer. It hadn't blown, but was looking a bit thin. Nice to be able to find service on a Sunday during a holiday weekend. I would have bought 4 new tires from them, but they didn't have the right size; we swapped out the thin one for the spare and kept rolling.

Joan is looking forward to the wine and someone to talk to besides me. Molly is anxious to run through the grass again and trade hisses with Miss Kitty. I'm excited about giving you a big hug and shaking hands with ol' what's-his-name again.

See you tomorrow evening... depending on how many Wal-Marts we come across between here and there. 8)
