The BIG DAY!

After a year of surveyors and tire kickers we sold our 38' ketch in September and today became the proud new owners of a 1989 22 cruiser! While we were working so hard and paying so much to sell our old boat, we'd take a break to walk the docks at Port Townsend and imagine this day. We're so glad to be aboard!
First project will be cabin heat, and we're thinking of an Espar D2. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Robin and John

Welcome aboard! Think about making it to the B'ham CBGT in August! On the cabin heat, we have a Webasto, I'm sure Espars are great as well. LOVE that warmth, we have the heat duct outlet right under the dinette table!

John and Robin,

Congratulations on the new to you C-Dory. You will love it. Glad to see another one in the "neighborhood". lots of cool cruising around here, and plenty of great CBRATS too. Hope to see you on the water, and by the way, it's time to start a new habit  Friday Harbor in May. Then you can plan on a few other good meetings along the way and check in at B'ham in Aug to see how the plans are working out.

Welcome, and enjoy.

congrats of the boat. Wee have a espar and really love it. The install was not to bad. Just make sure you think thur everything before you start. One of the things I did was to think about were I was going to be when I wanted heat? and could I reach the start button from that location. Well I want heat before I get out of bed or while Iam driving. So the start button is located where i can reach it from the captains chair or the berth. Not next to the unit like in all the pictures in the instructions.

Also I decided to have the combustion air intake (cai) to come from inside the cabin. This allowed me to only drill one hole in the side of the boat. It also acts to remove moisture from inside the boat. The instructions insisted that the cai come from out side the truck ( i bought a kit for a truck) That was because the trucks are more air tight and if the CAI was from inside the truck the flow would not be high enough. So really think it out before you drill.

I've been thinking of mounting the combustion unit in the cockpit to reduce the noise. Make any sense? I like the idea of the recirculating warm air though. Has noise been any issue?

I also recently installed a Webasto in my CD22. (You can see my photo album for the install). Mine is located under and behind the sink. I don't find it all that noisy. But my hearing isn't what it use to be either... Colby

We have an Espar D2. The only time noise is an issue, is for about five minutes during start-up. Even then the noise is outside through the exhaust. Normal running is almost silent.
