I have used Rain X in the past and found it to be very helpful. Good suggestion and I need to replenish it. I am not sure if the center window is glass or plastic--if it is glass, then rain X is another good answer.

Out here, the weather is hot enough that the water evaporates faster than in Calif. (where I boated most of my life), and salt appears to be more of a probelm.

Since we are headed back to Apalachacola next week--it will be interesting to try several coats of Rain X and see if it helps much--but the weather has turned cool in the last 24 hours, so it may work better.

We did use the RainX---and it was helpful--but not to the point of not needing the windshield wipers. I am going to eventually install a freshwater windshield washer.

The water pump recycling issue is still not completely resolved. The one leak of the shower fitting repair reduced the cycling time from 14 to 20 seconds. No more water leaks found. I double hose clamped all of the pressure water fittings--over 25 extra clamps added...Tested the pressure--on at 22 PSI and off at 38 PSI. Disassembled the water pump--and nothing significant caught in the valves etc. So I let Jeff M know that I had exhausted all possibilities. Jeff Messmer and C Dory came thru again and over night sent a new pump. I will install it in the next day or so (after my back recovers from the double clamping of the hoses.)

In the next few days, I will post my thoughts on the systems after 1000 miles and 60 hours of engine time.
 
We tried the RainX after the discussion here. It definitely made a difference... still needed the wipers, but no smearing of the salt water (tended to be a real pain in the butt motoring into the sunset). We also keep a bottle of Windex under the sink to be able to spray the windows to eliminate that smear... didn't need the Windex last time out, assuming due to the RainX.

Joan picked up the RainX no-fog stuff for the inside, but I haven't had a chance to try that yet. Hope to find out that it works as well.

Were also a firm believer of rain-x on the windshields. We have have nothing but rain this past summer and it has been a great product. It works great in saltwater as it does not leave spots sheds the water off great. We also keep micro-fiber cloths for the interior windows due to moisture as they absorb better that conventional towels and do not leave streeks.
 
Have tried the anti fog for the inside and isn't anything to brag about. It does help a little but not that much.

Glad to hear that the RainX helped. Maybe a couple more coats would solve your problem. For me I apply two coats and it lasts about a month or two, then I need to reapply. It could be that my windows are at a different angle making the water shed faster. As Jim B. stated it also eliminates the smearing of the saltwater.

Wow, thought I'd resurrect this old (2006) thread for when Dr. Bob got THATAWAY. As some of you may know, I just bought the boat and will fly to Pensacola to pick it (and the Excursion) and drive it back sometime in the next couple of weeks. Very neat to read these NINE pages of things he did all in one thread. There a lot more of course but this is the best one, particularly about the performance. My 115's get great mileage and give me 30+ knots but having the extra HP if needed will be nice

I consider myself a very lucky Brat, this is a whole lot easier (and only slightly more expensive :roll: than doing all of these things to CAPTAIN'S CAT. She will be for sale as soon as I finish a couple of projects, along with her tow vehicle a 2001 Dodge RAM 2500 which is not in the paint shop and will look like new.

It will live on my lift, glad there is no bottom paint. I'm considering a name change (suggestions appreciated) will talk to Dr. Bob about it when I see him. I have had CAPTAIN'S CHOICE (22 Cruiser), CAPTAIN'S KITTEN (16 Angler) and now CAPTAIN'S CAT (TC255) and of course a whole bunch of previous boats as many of us have. We have 4 cats in the house :cat :cat :cat :cat but Sally says I can only have one at the pier! That's plenty for me.

Charlie Congrats on new to you Dr. Bobs 255 . What a Great boat and all the extra's that you got with it . When will you put your cat 255 up for sale ?
 
By early next week, probably Monday. I have a couple from Annapolis that wanted a demo ride last Sunday and while I hadn't completed the deal with Dr. Bob yet I gave them first right of refusal if they paid my price. Not ready to disclose that yet though (the price that is).

Here I go away for a few days, off the internet, ride a PWC for the first time, and next thing you know Charlie has purchased "Thataway". We are looking forward to meeting with him, and spending a few hours together. No grass growing under his wheels! (or boats)!

I'll catch up with the rest of the C Brat site when I get home tomorrow. I will also comment on some interesting lakes we saw along the way during our "Road Trip" with the grandkids...
